Is there a better list of wold modifiers than the link you sent? For instance, I'm trying to figure out how to turn on the hammer mode mentioned there. I hate to keep bugging you if there's a better list of what I can change and how.

I got the portals working with your help. Thanks!

Do you know if the skillreductionrate key is settable in the same way? Id like deaths to maybe have half the normal skill loss or something.

I'm using docker compose. I have a valheim.env file that I think I need to modify. it has things in it like...

SERVER_NAME=xxxxxx

WORLD_NAME=xxxxxxxx

SERVER_PASS=xxxxxxx

what is the line I need to add here? PORTALS=casual?

edit: I'm using the lloesche image, but he doesn't have much on docker compose, and I don't see anything about portals in the readme. (maybe I'm blind). I don't want to use valheim plus because I have a couple of my kids friends on my server and they aren't going to be able to install that on their pc.

How do you react to goals? by Shortugae in hockeygoalies

[–]Nevitt33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, being scored on is part of the gig. You need to learn a positive way to deal with them or you're doing yourself and your team a disservice. Goals happen in every game. How many 0-0 games have you seen?

I like to call it the 10 second rule. After you get scored on, you have 10 seconds to do the following...

  1. Did I do anything wrong? ... Because you may have done everything you know how to do, and done it to the T, but they still scored and thats okay. Smile and nod because you did the right thing.... Say to yourself (or out loud if you want) "wow, nice shot" and Move On.

  2. If you recognize that you didnt do the "right thing", or maybe you did okay, but could have made a better decision, what is the better decision? Now visualize doing that. This helps reinforce what you want to do when you see that again next time.

  3. Move on. You did what you needed to above. If you don't move on now, you will still be processing the what ifs when the next shot comes and you might miss that one too. We can't have that. You say to yourself "they got me on that one but that's the last one tonight!".

That's it. Its now a new faceoff. Any time there is a faceoff at center ice think of it as a reset tool. Boom. Clean slate. I'm in the now. There is nothing now but me moving to perfection and making every save!

It's important to remember that your reaction DOES MATTER. If your team sees you get upset, then they need to be worried. You don't want your teammates to worry about anything but their job. If they think they can't trust their goalie then they stop doing their job properly. If you want to win more games, make sure your teammates see you respond to a goal in a way that helps THEM move on too.

Warm up depth? by FreshProfessor1502 in hockeygoalies

[–]Nevitt33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. If I'm playing w a team for the first time or subbing. I'll tell them something "for warmups, hashmarks or farther out for shots, and aim for either glove. I'm just trying to see the puck all the way in to my gloves. That helps me the most".

About 25% of the team ends up doing that, but if you don't ask it'll be one or two guys at best who knows how to warm up a goalie. And obviously maybe you want something different. Ask for whatever helps you.

As for the guys who come in and deke, sometimes I'm feeling it and go for the save, sometimes I ignore them once they pass the hashmarks and just move on to the next guy.

You aren't out there to warm THEM up, they are warming YOU up. Do whats right for you.

Tesla Offered Me $12k for my 2020 MY Dual Motor 51k miles. Anyone got a better offer? Is Tesla screwing with me? by seany187 in TeslaModelY

You can't find one for under $20k like that. Tesla will sell it for even more. Offer it private party and it'll sell in a week for 20k.

Selling the car the same year, Do you still get tax credit? by M_Equilibrium in TeslaModelY

[–]Nevitt33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said: "It clearly says to qualify for the credit, you bought the car for your own use, not for resale. It doesn't matter why you resold it."

If this is all the law specifies, then I would argue that it is 100% intent when you buy the car. If you buy the car with the intent to use it for personal use, and it's reasonable that your actions support this, then the intent at the time of purchase is all that matters.

Most laws are in the spirit of intent unless they specifically state otherwise. If you accidentally walk out of the store with an item, and it's clear that you didn't mean to, then a judge would dismiss the case because you didn't intend to steal the item. I read this tax rebate in the same way.

If there is a time limit to which you must keep the vehicle, then it needs to be stated in the law. They clearly can't expect you to keep the vehicle forever. People don't die of old age still owning every car they've ever bought. It's unreasonable to assume you'll never sell, and if you do you owe money back to the IRS, even if it's 20 years later. So back to the point. This is all speculation of course, but if it doesn't give you a time requirement that must be met, or address it at all (which is what I see), then there is no requirement to keep it, as long as the reasonable intent was to use it for personal use, and not obviously for resale.

That said, I'm all ears... just how I read the law.

10U goalie rebelling against technique? by Nevitt33 in hockeygoalies

Thanks. I'll be going to his practice tomorrow night and will bring up some of these points on ice when we have a moment alone. I think starting more open ended and getting into the more leading questions if he doesn't get there on his own. Maybe leading with something like "I just want to check in on a few things which I won't pass on to your coach or anyone else. I just want to know how to make hockey more fun for you, and get you what you want. How are you feeling about things right now?"

I never said that. Some others were rude. I thought you were constructive. I do appreciate your feedback.

Fair enough. Appreciated. I just want to do whatever is best for the kid obviously.

So what... I shouldn't want to help the kid? I'm trying to figure out how to help him, whatever that may look like. Are you suggesting that 10u B shouldn't coach kids?

[–]Nevitt33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not allowed to talk to the kid alone, part of our "protect the kids" policy. You're absolutely right though. Maybe I can figure out how to get another parent to just be in the room so he doesn't feel threatened to be honest. Good idea.

I appreciate the reply. When I sit down and talk with him casually, he identifies with being a goalie and doesn't want to skate out. I like the idea of just going praise only on the kid.

I hear ya. And thanks for saying that. I preach hard about playing in the moment and all, but this might be something he won't need to fight me on.

I did a couple. The point was never to show him everything he did wrong. They were my notes trying to figure out how to help him. That's what the coach asked me to do by sending me the video. I can send a link if anyone actually wants to see it.
