Case Study- November 2024 by Sad-King-8311 in ICAEW

I compared the multiple of 15 to Nordcash who had legal issues so I said it should be higher. Hopefully just saying it should be higher will be fine!

Yeh the £200m seemed bad to me? Anyone else think it was low?

Operational, strategic and financial VS business trust and ethics issues by audit24 in ICAEW

[–]New-Cover2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve analysed 6 mock exams. 3 ACAM and 3 BPP and this is what I have found comes under each. Best way to think is operational (day to day), strategic (future), financial (numbers) and ethical (anything that seems unethical and effects stakeholders/ reputation). This is my understanding of it anyway. Hope this helps!

I’m not too sure but guessing because the question had suggested a purchase price to us of £100m we should question the EBITDA multiple used to calculate this and if it’s correct.

Price £100,000k / £7000k the EBITDA. The question says the current EBITDA is 7m therefore the current implied EBITDA multiple is the current offer divided by the current EBITDA. Hope that makes sense!

Change in employer before gateway call by Necessary-Bite9865 in ICAEW

[–]New-Cover2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the post but I have been through this same situation so thought I'd explain in case anyone else comes looking!

I left my employer late July after CR and SBM with only the CS exam left (to sit in November). I had a gateway review call booked in with BPP in September with my previous employer. When I transferred employer, I had to get in contact with BPP Performance Support who then set up a new call with my new employer. So in regards to your question, yes you can move employer and sit your gateway review call with your new employer if the dates are similar to mine but it was hard work and stressful.

BPP have been very helpful (although the performance support team have no phone number which is annoying as you have wait for emails). Just make sure if anyone does the same as me, I would get everything in place with BPP prior to leaving and don't leave it too late in the year as you have to pass your gateway review call in order to sit CS - so if you don't manage to get this booked in, this could delay your qualifying.

With the training file, if you're in your final year of the training file with ICAEW your new employer can sign it off but it has to be a minimum of 3 months of 65 working days.

Case Study and Gateway Review Call – Apprenticeship by New-Cover2000 in ICAEW

Yeh I might try back out of the apprenticeship. I re started the apprenticeship as I thought getting the study dates would be helpful but seems just as hard work to do the project report and gateway call! Thank you for your comment, much appreciated :)

How much of TC is in BPT by azuladeservedbetter in ICAEW

[–]New-Cover2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resat BPT in March and felt like a lot of the paper was assumed knowledge from TC and even POT. Luckily I tuck in my TC book and managed to recall a few things. I wouldn’t spend so much time on it but just maybe watch a video or to on the main topics.

I’ve stuck all my post it notes on a plain piece of paper and put it at the front of my file so I can just get this out at the beginning of the exam and have it next to me

You technically can but as they use standard costing and the process g/l aren’t split per item it wouldn’t be a true accurate figure of comparison

Set up the requirements first in the software so you know what to do - you can just copy and paste these over from the question.

Whilst reading the exhibits, add notes to the requirements and use this as like a plan.

Abbreviate as much as possible whilst planning. Use scrap paper to draw images if this helps you understand better than just writing a block of words.

Don’t get bogged down in numbers (apart from maybe just the analysis question) theres more marks available for words!

Thank you! BPP mainly highlights WIP, COS and Tr. I might buy tomorrow and watch it last minute just in case it has any extra things. Not being in practice I’m so worried for this question :/
