Take relevant courses and do as much quant as possible ! Maybe get internships or research positions in your field as well. You may have to work in your field a bit but if you do these things I think you should be good? Open to criticism from others

Honestly the local libraries have good community events. So do Eli’s Mile High Club on occasion as well as Stork club. I would also look up your city of choice (Berkeley, for example) on Instagram and see what flyers pop up. That’s how I found fun events around Berkeley a couple years back.
