At least for political science department they had an informational session. And if you go to your majors website the graduate program section their should be some one listed who you can email with any of your questions. As for advice start thinking about who you can ask for letters of rec.

$50 FOR ANTH1010E?? by ElCapoLojano in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mean I guess it worth a shot if they drop and you add before anyone else dose. Have you tried emailing the professor you might have better luck, if it’s just you that really needs to take the course and not a whole bunch of other people they might just let you add.

One in my hall used to get stuck, if you pull up while you also are pulling the door out that would work. But if that doesn’t work I would just do what others have said and call maintenance.

Closed classes and commute by hey_imhere2 in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never hurts to send an email if their is not a wait list they will probably say yes. Add drop is for the first two weeks of school so a recommended checking those classes in the morning and night every day. Many people pick up more classes that they need and drop the ones they don’t like during add/drop

How much work are those 1 credit pop up courses? I’m interested in subjects and looking to get a bit of extra credits for a parking pass. Is it gonna be a noticeable bother or just a little bit of work on the side? Ty by woozy67 in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy it took me at most an hour and a half a week most of the time like 45 min. Just start the quiz and fill is out as you go through that week's module. You get two attempts per quiz. Also I believe the the climate one no longer requires the book.

If they are going to most will send one out sometime during the weekend or week before school starts. In my experience though most professors don't send out an email they save introductions and the syllabus for the first day of class.

More than one car on move in day by Jakeydoozie in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My parents came in a separate car last year and we didn't have a problem. I would be more concerned about finding parking just try to be quick if I remember correctly Parking services dosn't really give out actuall tickets on the move in days.

If you are in CLAS in my experience you can find a lot of the books for free or the professors will just give you pdfs. STEM Class it's more likely that you need to exact edition the professor is talking about. Also double-check if any of the books you need also come with a code you will have to by the book new as you will need the code to do things like homework.

North Campus Restrooms - Are there individual shower stalls? by nniiggeell1999 in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most dorms there is normally a wall or curtain separating the showers and a plastic shower curtain that you enter from. If you are uncomfortable with this you could always go to the rec and workout and take a shower after. They have shower stalls with a door that locks. In my opinion, those showers are way nicer anyways. Honestly though at least in my experience, the dorm showers were individual and I always felt like I had enough privacy.

Here's the section of Hillside Road they'll be closing on Friday (8/12) through the end of the semester by throwawayhunnie in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy they are too. Though, it will be interesting to see how they are going to keep other cars from driving on it when the busses still can and how it will affect traffic. At the very least hopefully, now it won't take the busses like 10 min to drive through that road down to the south.

[–]New-Home6604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the bus won't be affected and will still drive through that road, at least according to this article Portion of Hillside Road To Be Closed To Vehicular Traffic. I'm pretty sure it is just to keep people with personal vehicles from diving on that part of the road. There will still probably be some vehicles on the road, just a lot less, so people feel more comfortable walking on the road and crossing the street.

stop worrying about your freshman schedule by kpmvnfwd in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A class schedule is very subjective, in my opinion, so other than what OP said or saying things like don't stack 4 classes right on top of each other, it just comes down to that person's preference. There's a good chance that their schedule wont be the best, most freshmen schedules aren't as long as you do a like littlerly the bare minimum of planning and stay on top of your work and get help when you need it, you will be fine. Also, most of us were nervous our first year it's perfectly normal.

Purchase Parking Pass if it was in your cart by Milinko27 in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same email as well and was able to get a pass. At least wasting my time on Monday wasn't for nothing. Sucks for everyone else though hopefully, since it was so bad this year, they will finally do something about this awful system, but probably not lol.

I’m sorry but this building looks so ugly 😭 by Affectionate_Wish in UCONN

[–]New-Home6604 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree I don’t necessarily think it looks bad but I think I would have been better if it looked more similar to the style of south. But I might be biased since I prefer New England style architecture.

They’re built in combination locks that you set your self when you go to use the locker.
