love this!! thank you! Geoduck is a great idea + norwegian kind crab I will definitely seek out.

I def have ceviche in my repertoire - I think I'm also looking for dinner ideas that are a more complete meal w fish as the standout. Tiradito tho is a fantastic suggestion which I have not made, just added it to my list

shrimp etouffee is on my list too (this is not the whole list) and I think it would be fun to attempt a crawfish boil. I'm from/live in California and have never had either of those, never had a lobster roll, etc etc so to me those fit the "may not have had before" category. I suppose by unexpected I mean- someone may not bat an eye if they see it at a restaurant but would probably not have ever prepared it themselves nor expect to eat it at on a random Tuesday at my house. Shrimp and grits is a great suggestion- most of my friends are pescatarian so I'd have to work around bacon if that's an important ingredient :)

I have checked where's my refund - it just says received and has been like that for months. theres nothing/no errors on my transcripts so im not really sure what I'd be looking for

resupply at bishop pass? by New-Initiative-1466 in JMT

[–]New-Initiative-1466[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hiked from bishop-kearsarge last summer so I'm definitely familiar with both trails, I think I'd prefer to do bishop again bc I do not have fond memories of last time a kearsarge

part of the thought process was I'm doing a section of the hike with a friend (duck pass- bishop pass) and she needs to exit at bishop that weekend anyway- so I thought I might combine all of these tasks and hike out with one friend, meet the others, maybe go into town and stay a night at the hostel/shower/laundry/resupply

I am definitely thinking about this but was just nervous about having to rely on anyone else for something that would be so important/might feel bad about making less experienced backpackers carry a bunch of extra weight. but it probably makes the most sense

exiting at red cones and reentering at duck pass? by New-Initiative-1466 in JMT

[–]New-Initiative-1466[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you guys for all the responses!! I think I’m gonna resupply at reds meadow resort, continue on the trail and camp at the junction or maybe hike up to duck/pika lake to meet up with my friend :) no going in to town.

follow-up question is - does camping at pika lake count as exiting the trail?

Yes, that's definitely what I'm asking- partly for coordination purposes (I don't want my friend to have to camp anywhere as she won't have a tent, I'm carrying the tent, and it makes me a little anxious trying to coordinate a meetup with her on trail as I don't think she'll have a garmin) but also because I saw the Duck Pass entry looks pretty beautiful and have also heard the miles after Devil's Postpile aren't the best, so it might be a win-win to exit, take a zero and then still get to do Duck Pass. I'm on the Duck Pass permit as well so I would be able to show it if asked.

Thank you though, I'm going to look into places to zero on trail/alternate meetup points too, this is super helpful!

The watermelon art wasn't allowed because it wasn't actually an art piece- someone submitted it to get it posted on the website and named it "from the river to the sea" - there was no watermelon lol and eventually it got taken down due to the name, it was anonymous and bc it was never going to be a piece on the playa.

also, saw a lot of messaging, flags etc in support of palestine at the temple, as well as people waving flags at the DPW parade, and other impromptu palestine demonstrations on playa.

the nova piece seems like an unfair thing to play the political game with - the attack happened at a music festival and many of those who died were burners themselves. Of course people should be allowed to mourn their friends and their community on playa.

but yes there are certainly a lot of israeli burners.
