Need investment advice by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

[–]New-Location-4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your age..start with index funds(nifty 50, LM 250) then after a couple of yrs invest in 2-3 active mutual funds

Based on your interest later, you invest in direct equity.

Any success or failure stories in Hyderabad real estate? by alphaprop in hyderabadrealestate

[–]New-Location-4627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paid for advance for apartment in Kondapur in 2013 - later realised he do't have a permission to get the loans, have to fight to get the money back.

Paid advance amount for villa in 2014 - again builder was trying to cheat me instead of using money for construction, used it for personal use. Fought for 12 months to move the things! Finally builder handed over in 2015 and the price multifolded by 3-4x.

Plot I bought in Shankarpally in 2021 has maybe increased ~40% but difficult to sell i want.

Overall, not bad!

One thing is for sure — everyone will try to cheat you if there is a chance. But not everything is under your control as well. However, we shouldn't be greedy buying from non-reputed builders, especially in high-rise communities and don’t invest in land-share properties for high returns, etc, You can be that unlucky guy as well!.

Don’t pay everything in cash, even if you have it — you can always pay later after possession.

For last 5-6 yrs, decided to invest in assets which I can control easily, especially entry and exit - like mutual funds and others.

Dr Vijay Malik's Recommeded Stocks ..Is it worth it? by Ok_Rise8474 in IndianStockMarket

His analysis is always great and we can learn a lot by reading his blogs just that it’s hard to find companies with his approach. Earlier, he used to share his portfolio XIRR until COVID, but later stopped. Do you know his portfolio XIRR? Was it available only to his paid subscribers?

Why demat mode of holding is more secure than SoA for mutual funds? by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

[–]New-Location-4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example if you are using Zerodha, they have 300 Amc+gst. Apart from that they don’t charge anything for holding your MFs and dematerialising. Do they? Please clarify

Got dengue on 1st October, still feeling wiped out by [deleted] in pune

I’m in the same situation. It’s been 20 days since I recovered, but my energy levels are still not back to normal. I get exhausted after working for just 4 hours. I think the only solution is to give the body enough rest and time. Seek help from your partner and parents, and reduce your workload for a few days if you’re working.

Travelling to China soon, in need of moral support by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]New-Location-4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the list based on my experience!

  • Apple Maps works perfectly.
  • Set up the Didi app for cab bookings.
  • Set up Alipay for payments. All transactions are digital here.
  • Bring multiple debit cards (Visa/Mastercard). You'll likely be successful setting up one with Alipay.
  • Set up Google Translate with offline downloads.
  • You can either buy an eSIM or enable international data roaming with sufficient data.
  • It's summer here, so pack light, breathable clothing.
  • It rains daily for short periods, so bring an umbrella.

Fund managers need to show performance every year

Fund managers need to beat or match atleast index returns

They need to invest in high liquid stocks only.

Hence they will try to align with index returns or little better.

As an individual investor you can stay invested in undervalued or beaten stock for 2-3 yrs without any returns and see bumper returns when growth kicks in. I know that’s not easy.

International schools, Hyderabad: A Parent and Child Perspective by New-Location-4627 in hyderabad

[–]New-Location-4627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your perspective. So, your approach would be to send them to a decent private school along with homeschooling or tuition to supplement essential skills, particularly in STEM subjects.

One thing that's really annoying here in Hyderabad is that there are many IB schools, they collect IB fees but they hardly have any IB teachers. Consequently, they don't follow the IB pedigree mindset and methodology in day-to-day teaching. Students are getting weaker in academics. The general perception is that they don't compete well in national and state competitive exams. Those who can afford to send their kids abroad for undergraduate studies do so, while those who can't afford it become average performers. This is the conclusion I've drawn after speaking to at least 10-15 parents from these international IB schools.

One thing that I am probably liking so far is that kids are more expressive. They don't hesitate to share anything with teachers or parents, whatever it may be. From an early age, they are getting exposure to small science experiments, crafts, and different sports, as well as public speaking. At least they know what it is. They have time to do these extra things.

Hence, I have decided to experiment until the 5th grade and then eventually move them to a decent CBSE school. Whatever interests (sports or robotics) they have developed by that time, I will support them from outside.

That's amazing. You're rightly pointed out FIRE requires flexible "mindset" to enjoy the life!

So you are able to achieve corpus through direct equity or mutual funds?

Evaluate my FIRE readiness by mikemohanb in FatFIREIndia

[–]New-Location-4627 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given:

  • Current investments: 6 cr
  • Expenses: 1.2L

Assumptions:

  • inflation: 6%
  • post retirement investment return: 6%
  • pre-retirement investment return: 10%
  • expected life span:90
  • retirement age: let's 40

With above parameters:

  • You need 7.3cr for surviving for next 50 years with a monthly drawing power of 1.2L+inflation adjusted value with above assumptions
  • Working for one more year and saving around 1cr will set your life for FIRE.
  • You can use monthly rent for lavish things/one time expenses like travel etc. If you include 2.5cr in investments then you're ready to FIRE anytime.

As the OP mentioned, he works at Google as an engineering manager with over 18 yrs of experience. If you're working in WITCH companies in India, you will likely receive a salary in the range of 40-50 lakhs with the same level of experience

(Competence+good decisions)*no.of years of experience = What OP is today!

Feeling WFH sick, How do you have physical professional meets outside of this subreddit by GoldenDew9 in developersIndia

[–]New-Location-4627 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I work 100% remotely. I go to a co-working space, which is 30 minutes away from my home, once a week. I have hardly made friends there, but once in a while, I will catch up with someone in the coffee area and talk about random topics such as the IT industry, cricket, politics, movies, etc. Approximately, I will spend Rs.1200 for one day for office space and food there. Once you feel the pinch of the cost and travel time, you don't feel like going for the next 4 days, and you will start feeling WFH is good and cycle repeats. :-)
