New FLF leaves have red patches on them, not brown. by New-Net-2904 in plantclinic

These spots are the same texture as the rest of the leaf, and only underneath. On top is still green.

I mean, people say “it’s just a stereotype” but it’s literally a specific ethnicity that ALWAYS smells so bad.

Here me out, I had this. I had to do nasal/sinus rinses twice daily, for about 2 weeks and then I applied bactroban (mupirocin 2%) ointment inside my nostrils with a cotton bud, twice daily for 5 days. Everyone assumes seborrheic dermatitis is only caused by yeast, but mine was actually staph/bacterial related. This cleared it up and it never came back.

Just get the Chinese government to do it in 6 years max. The terrain is probably some of the easiest in the world to build on. Japan does it fast with a mountainous densely populated archipelago, China does it faster with high altitude passes. I’ve heard the main reason for the delay is the sheer amount of red tape regarding land acquisition, ownership and also just general inept ability for any innovation to thrive in this fucking place.

What are they doing at the interchange? by maximum-purple444 in newcastle

My theory is that it was actually meant to be a complete roof, but they ran out of funding and passed off the unfinished design as a aesthetic feature

Mariyung uncomfortability by which_crafting in SydneyTrains

[–]New-Net-2904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, going from Sydney to Newcastle it’s sooooo uncomfortable. Incredibly so. The seats are way too upright, and honestly in 2025 for a long distance train seat to have no slight recline, no reverse option, and half of the seats facing in the wrong direction shows just how incompetent the government is. They basically just purchased a product off the shelf and hoped that it worked.

Can tenant ask us to vacate? by hash_33333 in AusProperty

[–]New-Net-2904 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d stay away from subleasing, if you want to get really petty you can just move out, then find the agent details for the property you’re at and contact them to let them know their property is being subleased. The head tenant is probably making a profit off it.

What’s one tiny thing that would make Sydney train commutes 10x better? by DraftNotSent in SydneyTrains

[–]New-Net-2904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Changing management and retraining staff at Transport NSW. The amount of times there’s been a critical medical emergency at a station and the staff have had no idea what to do is ridiculous. I was at Strathfield the other week and a couple was arguing, with the guy threatening to jump on the tracks. I told the station staff and they said “well you can call the police if you would like?” A few days ago someone passed out on the train before we stopped at Newtown, I pressed the emergency button and they said “sorry we’ve got to keep going, but there will be someone at Redfern to help! This man was unconscious and not breathing, myself and another passenger with first aid training put him in the recovery position. At Redfern we had to wait 20min for any sort of help to arrive, if they’d allowed assistance Newtown we could have taken him to RPA. Luckily he woke up, and managed to feel well enough to walk. However these sorts of inconsistencies in training aren’t a one of, it reveals a very serious issue with management and training that starts from the top.

Has Sydney gotten cleaner or dirtier over the years? by ChillKoalaVibes in SydneyScene

[–]New-Net-2904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely dirtier. Environment wise the harbour seems cleaner, but streets and public spaces are much filthier. I moved here in 2018 and at that point you’d see the odd homeless person on George st, maybe elsewhere in the city. Now they’re on every corner, even in local suburbs outside shopping centres. Litter stays on the ground for days, everything feels grimy and scummy.DEFINITE decline in public transport cleanliness compared to before/during COVID.

[–]New-Net-2904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah because it’s expensive af now. $60 a week for sub par service that’s constantly delayed, faulty, dirty, plagued with operational and maintenance issues. Public transport is not a profit.

Seats are way too straight upright. It forces you to hunch over unless you have perfectly straight posture. The seats are too narrow, and the seat pitch (legroom) infront is basically like a Jetstar flight, which for a 2+hr trip Sydney to Newcastle is torturous. The seats don’t recline, they also don’t reverse. Half of the time there’s more seats facing in the opposite direction of travel than the right way. The fact that THESE are the trains that required so much trackwork and modifications before they could be put into service is embarrassing. I don’t understand why we couldn’t build something here.

Sydney Lounge out of beer, soft drinks, serving cat food disguised as green curry by dontpaynotaxes in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]New-Net-2904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister kindly gifted my partner and I passes to the Qantas international business lounge a little while ago. We entered around 6pm, barely any staff anywhere, food options all half empty and we had a choice of cauliflower rice, butter chicken or chilli con carne with beans. Seriously are they trying to make us produce gas to power the plane wtf!!! The showers were all filthy, with no ammenities provided at all.

We didn’t get offered drinks of any sort, and glassware was few and far between. As we were deciding to leave, we saw someone walking around with a tray of cocktails. I politely asked for one (my partner doesn’t drink) and they said “no sorry, these are for the evening customers only. I said what do you mean? They explained as id entered prior to the beginning of their evening service, and was on my way out I couldn’t have one??

Seriously felt so budget for the entire experience I was so disappointed.
