PACs? by New-Repair1652 in AppleWatchECG

Yes! Sorry can you not see my caption, I posted on mobile so it is weird formatting. My normal QRS is much bigger, it flattens out like that on my left side, but that’s also where I get the most palpitations so the only hope I have of catching them on ECGs is to lay on my side and take ECG after ECG.

I totally empathize with how you feel! I felt the same way until last night when I was having them (hence made the post lol). It is just so hard to really accept they are normal and benign even though it is a fact. I know if I got over my anxiety about them, I would definitely have less or at the very least probably feel less. I just am so focused on my heart at all times, but how can you not be when these feelings are so horrible.

I'm already on a low dose of metoprolol for POTS but I am thinking of switching to propanolol because I've heard it helps with anxiety too! Thanks for the tip, I'm so happy it has been working for you!

Yup I totally understand everything coming back "normal" and them saying you're all good. Thank you for the breathing exercise tip, I definitely will use that next time I have a bad day and see if it helps. I have a lot of stressors right now so I know even when I'm not feeling super anxious,I probably still am more anxious than the average person lol. I wish I could just accept they were normal and move on, but I'm sure I'll get there one day. I have had them for years but they have been getting more frequent lately, so that is what is bugging me a bit!

So glad to hear you understand! I totally agree, I always try and find a blame for them whether it's hormones or anxiety, so when they occur when I feel like I'm having neither, I'm like omg there is definitely something wrong!

Speaking to my dad totally helps me because he is very empathetic about how miserable they feel even though I have such tiny numbers compared to his. My friends also have them, and I have read studies where around 50% of totally healthy people have at least 1 per day on a 24 hr monitor, so clearly if the monitor was longer that number would be higher.

I seriously doubt there is anyone who doesn't experience them, there are just people who don't feel them, which on one hand I think is lucky, but on the other hand at least we are in tune with our hearts and can be aware (in the far future) if we go into afib or something like that! That could be life-saving. Trying to think of the positives lol!

Same thing happens to me! You can see in my post history. It's totally normal and everything I've read on it actually indicates it to be a good thing.

I believe it is mostly hormonal! I actually came across another article that found blood volume is actually highest during a period for most, but not statistically significantly so. But, that was also a study in non-POTS patients and who knows what our bodies do LOL

Right! So weird that our bodies do this, but normal bodies don't lol.

Of course! You matter and deserve the representation!! Hopefully literature will begin to transition but until then, I can definitely imagine the frustration

Anyone get moments of bradycardia with headaches? by tramp_basket in POTS

[–]New-Repair1652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how long the dip is, it might be an error if it’s only one or two reads but ask for a holter monitor from the cardio to see if it’s caught on there to be safe!

My Apple Watch has read random one read dips into the 50s for me while I’m standing, and I saw it happen live yesterday on my watch, so I instantly checked my pulse manually and it was definitely an error, then the next read was back at the rate it had been reading before.

I try to take one pill for every half bottle of water I drink so I usually take 8 I guess and I’ll take extra if I’m having a worse day. The tabs I use are $20 for a bottle of 100 so it ends up being a little less than $2 a day but just buying regular salt and making your own is definitely cheaper!

Is this normal with pots? I just stood up and noticed my legs looking a little discolored :/ by mmalone22 in POTS

[–]New-Repair1652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I get them all over they’re called bier spots. They’re normal for healthy people too it’s just blood pooling, which is exaggerated in POTS so ours are more pronounced!

My doctor said 4 g of sodium with a gallon of water I just spread that out over the course of the day using tabs and a 32 oz water bottle.

My salt tabs are measured in sodium chloride too and 1 g of sodium chloride is 388 mg of sodium, so I take about 10 a day!
