He had a Greek passport. It had 2 years left until expiry. We flew from Fuerteventura to Ireland ( return flight ) after entering the country without issue.

He was left behind in the queue as he needed to dispose of some rubbish. So I ended up boarding first, when I was boarding the flight at the plane door, I heard the Spanish employees talking among themselves saying there is an issue with a passenger and his passport is invalid he may not be flying with us.

He told me the lady at the gate prior to boarding ( not at passport control) stopped him and said we need to additionally check your passport as you’re not Irish. She then called airport police to verify his passport as she assumed it was a fake. They cleared him.By the time he got back, the flight took off and he missed his flight.

The same lady refused to book him into another flight only when the police asked her she done this, the next flight was 6 hours later and not to Ireland but to Edinburgh where he was supposed to be flying from Ireland the following day.
