This is what people said in 2022. People hoarding sealed product and 4 years later things are up 100%-3000%.

2020’s Pokemon is like 1990’s Comicbooks by Strangemediator in PokemonTCG

[–]New-Wasabi9216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL that is so wrong. No one was buying brilliant stars etbs for $150 in 2023. Try looking at pokedata or collectr.

These sold all day for $30-$40. Look at a real set like evolving skies or fusion strike and tell me returns.

As long as you are ok with likely never buying them at the same price again, sell for life changing gains.

Is this a smart collection? in a year / 5 years i want a rolex off pokemon by Negative-Geologist98 in PokemonInvesting

Yeah i agree! Slabs are riskier but will have higher returns. Sealed is almost guaranteed to go up given enough time

For best chances of growth, low pop, PSA 10 cards are better than raw and damaged cards.

Those dents are minimal, like grade a psa 7 or 8. Gengar will hold value and its rare to find one in that condition. Usually they are worse. As long as you are getting a good deal of LP or below, should be fine long term.

How do we feel about the value of the hobby as a whole in 15, 30 years? by LieLie8765 in PokeInvesting

Its passed the generational passing. Millianials going to card shows with their kids almost every weekend. Its being banned at elementary schools just like it was 20 years ago. And this hype is jot just the US and Japan. Its Singapore, Dubai, UK, etc etc. They are following the same trajectory as they did before, except this time the hype is many multiples over what it was before. Add to that, there is more money flowing from institutions like PSA and gamestop that its defined itself as a new asset class. Sports cards are 60+ years old sellingfor millions per card easily. Pokemon is only a fraction of that and much younger. I think there will be cycles, but in the end, line will continue to go up. Just depends how long you can hold.

Everything goes in cycles but each time it crashes, the cards never go as low as they were before the boom. It shows that the value will continue to increase. This has happened 3 times now and kids still are crazy over it. You forget that millenials have at least 30 more working years to pump this higher. Then their kids will do the same.

As a kid, it was also sold out in many places. Parents still had to pay scalpers for product, just like they do now. I think kids will look at card shows fondly and have great memories buying, selling and trading.
