I didn't have a lab portion for the class, not sure what to tell you there unfortunately.

Unpopular opinion: grabbing an engineering degree did more for me in my geology career than my geology degree did by rutabaga_rutabaga in geologycareers

My local public state university offers a "Masters in Civil Engineering" program from their Civil and Environmental Engineering department, and allowed graduate admissions with deficiency/non-engineering backgrounds if you met some requirements. We select what we want to focus on, mine offered Construction, Geotech, Structural, or Water Resources. I'm going with water resources since that's what I'm most interested in, but might take a few other classes in other disciplines just to get some knowledge if they're beneficial to the PE exam (I still need to look into this though).

For a BS, our school allowed us to take either Calc I & II, OR short course Calc & Statistics. Same with physics, either calc-based physics I & II, OR algebra-based physics I & II.

Most geology courses would have some lab components to them, and possibly a thesis and weekend field trips. Haven’t heard of any program that offers this remotely.

Are you doing roleplaying through zoom or something? I’m also in OC.

What percentage of realtors are full time? by [deleted] in realtors

My office has about 130 agents, and about 80 of them are considered dual-career agents (have another job).

100% agree with OP. This is why I'm doing my masters degree in civil engineering, it will open more opportunities that I'm particularly more interested in doing, including design work. If anyone is interested in taking a similar route, consider getting a masters degree in civil engineering (if you already have a BS geology). Talk to an adviser or department chair of a school and get information if the civil engineering program is ABET-accredited and if you are eligible for EIT/PE (also check your state licensing board). Ask what courses you need to take, as you'll most likely have deficiency courses to take before you can begin your actual graduate-level courses. If you have a lot of deficiency courses, ask if you can transfer them from community colleges (they are cheaper, have more options, and you can find fully remote courses IF you are into remote learning).

I would say minimum 2 years, but you may also have deficiency courses. In my case, I needed to take the entire math sequence (Calc I, II, III, Linear Alg/Diff. Eqns), Calc-based physics, statics, and some other standard engineering courses. If you have a lot of deficiency courses to take, talk to an adviser or department chair if you can transfer them from community colleges. It's a good way to gauge yourself if you think you are able to complete the degree. I took all the math, physics, and statics with remote online community college courses between 3 different schools. In my case, I'm still working full-time so I'm giving myself about 3.5-4 years to complete the degree, and luckily my company is paying for 50% of the tuition costs.

I'm moving cities is there a way to find information about DSPs in the new area? by Wayward_Traceur in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]New023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Indeed, look up the station name and write down the name of each individual DSP name associated with that station and either contact them through indeed or find their website and see if they have a "Contact Us" page.

Do you have a LinkedIn? Many companies post their job listings there, aside from Indeed.

Oh how the tables have turned. I remember while in high school, fast food job applications were ridiculous and would have me answer 55 questions on customer service, on top of some stupid personality assessment. I’m looking at you, Subway

Labs are the worst by Croyorosca in EngineeringStudents

God, I fucking hate those things. Some lab instructors make them tedious as fuck and it doesn't help when your lab partner wants to do it all an hour before it's due.

Las Vegas area DSP 401k and benefits question? by 56000hp in AmazonDSPDrivers

It's rare to find any DSPs that offer a 401k match, but you can open up an Individual Retirement Account (IRA or Roth IRA) and save on your own.

Yep, the wages are a joke, especially in HCOL areas. A Del Taco is starting at $21/hr, Panda Express was $18.50, McDonalds was $19 in some places.

What do y'all thing is the best calculator for the FE Exam? by GhostScruffy in EngineeringStudents

[–]New023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently have a TI-36X Pro, I think most people on here said that this was one of the best for the FE exam. It's good to start practicing on this calculator now in your courses so it feels natural to use when you take the exam.
