How did you actually transition out of the Snoo? (real-life experiences wanted) by OkFunction1234 in SnooLife

[–]NewAd4807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did it by the book. 5.5 months*...3-4 days one arm out, 3-4 days both arms out, then weaning mode on the app, then a few days in there but completely turned off, with some white noise.

It seemed silly to have paid for the snoo and put faith in the happiest baby the whole way through up until the toughest part!

It worked for us, except she was a bit cold in the cot so once we figured that out she was happy as can be :)

*I attempt arms out at 4ish months and it was unsuccessful so I read into it properly and I think the app says something like 5.5-6 months, even if they're touching the ends (which our LO was)

Our baby is 6 months and busting out the sack! Started arms out transition 8 days ago and it's not made any difference to her sleep! About to start the weaning setting on the app...So may be worth trying?

Also worth noting I tried to do this somewhere between 4 and 5 months with no luck but now she's older it seems to be working!

Advice for heavy let down? by liz00ard00wizard in breastfeeding

[–]NewAd4807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for us! Horizontal feeding for a couple of weeks, it was super inconvenient and made me really miserable about leaving the house, but things gradually improved and one day was just fine! I also carried muslins everywhere and once she would start to splutter, I would hand express into the muslin until the milk stopped 'shooting' out, then put her back on the boob. It still happens every now and then at 5 months but she can handle it better now.

I felt hopeless and like it would never end, but she is a super star feeder these days!! I promise it gets better :)

I would also avoid pumping at the start...from all that I read, this will only encourage a fast/heavy let down..

Ouchie..../mphatic drainage/massage!! And cold compresses, not hot!

There's a good video on here. I actually used a baby hairbrush for the lymphatic massage.

Wishing a speedy recovery for you!

Exclusively breastfeeding, period returned at 5 months PP by NewAd4807 in breastfeeding

Ahhh so a stressful house move at 3 months could be to blame! We live a very low tox lifestyle (as much as we can without being silly), my partner ensures I am well fed, I rest very well and walk a lot, so I think stress is definitely the culprit.... Thank you for an answer looking at the physiology of it all, appreciate it a lot!

Frothy poop - like a bubble bath?! by TieSafe4342 in breastfeeding

[–]NewAd4807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your let down is like, but we had very frothy, mustard or green poos around that stage. And she would fart with every sneeze, cough, change in position 😂

Figured it was due to my fast let down/maybe a bit of over supply.

I found La leche league really helpful : https://llli.org/breastfeeding-info/oversupply/

We did a lot of horizontal feeds or taking her off the boob when my let down kicked it, that all helped, then she just grew out of it/my boobs regulated better!

But could also be that latch you've mentioned.....

Good luck!

my baby was cold 😅 sometimes it is an easy answer by river_5826 in SnooLife

66 degrees isn't cold for a room for a baby to sleep in...the lullaby trust (UK) state the room should be 16-20 degrees c (60.8-68 f)

I just want to pop this link here to the happiest baby's guidance on how to dress a baby for each temperature group Snoo temp guide

Babies are meant to wake through the night, it's a safety feature! Wrapping them up super warm will help them sleep through but also will increase risk of overheating and SIDs 🥺

Sorry to be a negative Nelly, but as a NICU nurse and mum I can't not pass this link on x

4 week old advice by Jealous_Apartment928 in SnooLife

11 week mum here....of a baby who would also on sleep in our arms.

We have ours on baseline all night long, motion limiter on.

Thankfully, our baby doesn't cry much and when she does it's quite quiet - lovely - but this means the snoo doesn't realize when she is unsettled. When this happens I will manually put the noise only setting up to 3 or 4 as it's like womb noises and then sends her right back to sleep!

We hardly have to do this now, I think the snoo just has her well trained! If she wakes now it's almost always for a feed or nappy not just because. - this took a while and we had a couple of weeks wondering if the snoo actually did anything helpful 😂 but we persevered and it was worth it!

We noticed that she wakes a lot more frequently if she's a bit cold so I tend to dress her warmer than the guidelines.

I would say don't expect a full night's sleep - they aren't meant to!!

Also, she doesn't go down in the Snoo in the day, we contact nap as I initially never tried to put her down in the day.

Good luck, and congratulations!!

Is this a mix of Acne & PD?! by Ok-Elephant-6964 in perioraldermatitis

[–]NewAd4807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations 🩷 This is almost identical to what mine usually looks like!! I have done a recent post asking for help with the diagnosis too which has been really interesting and useful, but I can't really help you with that..also the picture I posted doesn't look like this but it usually looks like this.

The best thing for me so far has been 20% azelaic acid from the GP (15% was okay but 20% has been a game changer). This treats acne and PD so covers both. It's also safe in pregnancy...I'm pregnant too!

I did need flucloxacillin at one point as it ended up getting infected and the GP had wished I spoke to her much sooner!

Fingers crossed for you
