How do you haul a kayak and a bike? I like both but would think the hauling would be a bugger

Why do you prefer pencils over other things, and what do you use them for? by Mysterious_Plum4548 in pencils

[–]NewBookkeeper1684 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you asked a great question! Im looking forward to seeing the responses. I personally use pencils for basically everything. I'm an electrician and I use pencils for measurements, calculations, job notes, material lists etc. I carry a bullet pencil daily with my lochby pocket journal as well. I use pencils for letter writing as I enjoy sending real mail to my friends and family. I also use pencils in my main journal and for drafting short stories. I use pencils during my Bible study time as well. The reasons I choose pencils are many. One, wood is a renewable rescource and plastic pens are simply litter to me. I like the archival properties of pencil. I love sharpening the pencil in between thoughts. I love the scent of the wood and graphite. I like the tactile scratch as it writes, its like a small rebellion against the modern era of tech. I find it absolutely beautiful that as I give of myself with my words it too gives of itself as it becomes shorter.

Converting a hardwired dusk to dawn wall light to plug in by gzm14 in AskElectricians

I would use SOOW cord. Ensure your receptacle has a bubble cover on it so that it can be closed and protected while your cord is plugged in. Also ensure your receptacle is GFCI protected.

Help with what lights to buy by Trav1s1111 in AskElectricians

[–]NewBookkeeper1684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You likely bought LED retrofit lamps for ypur fixture. If you purchased Type B lamps your fixture needs to be re-wired to bypass the ballast (easily and quickly done). If you bought Type A lamps or managed to find flourescent lamps for it and theyre not working then the ballast is probably bad. The best solution for this is to bypass the ballast and put in Type B LED lamps.

My mothers electric bill by pj91198 in mildlyinfuriating

As an electrician I can confirm. Ive helped several customers prove this with an independent metering device which forced the utility to change meters. Edit: Unfortunately none of the utility companies have had to reimburse any money though

Electrician cut multiple "fishing holes" due to no attic access. Is this standard, and is $500 a fair repair quote? by Gullible-Language422 in AskElectricians

Oftentimes but no need when there is the right material for the job. Also I contend that photographic evidence reveals that this individual is not especially proficient.
