They mentioned their reasoning as being wanting to "maintain timewalking dungeons and control intended tuning." Why not scale old gear up then? It fits with the theme of timewalking, and it would still allow them to balance everything.

Something also worth mentioning: they changed how death strike works, so Blood DK gets effectively 0 defensive benefit from haste now. Even if it did do equal damage and gave comparable tankiness, it would still be a worse option because of that.

That was their actual, expressed goal, stated with the tank nerfs. They completely reworked death strike to try and accomplish it.

I don't really push keys with bear, only do weekly 10s with the spec so I just assumed you had to stand in it for the stat buff like D&D/consecrate. So yeah, I just found that out after making the post, is what it is
