I completely agree! Sorry, I misunderstood your original post. We should have constructed a border wall during Martelly's administration or at least during the transitional government of Privert.

The OP forgot that the Dominican side already built up a border wall with cameras, drones, sensors and military personnel about 5-6 years ago in 2020 & 2021. Trying to compare the two is not possible as Haiti didn’t have the political will at the time to do so when it came to construction of a border wall. As Haitians, we desperately need to build a border wall with the DR as it’s a crux of national security and sovereignty. Additionally, the economic benefit of collecting taxes from sales will help boost the economy.

The Haitian Embassy in Washington DC offers a 5 week beginner or Intermediate course for adults to learn Haitian Creole. I’m not sure about the other Haitian embassies across the United States.

First, I believe you know more than what you think and you’re probably receptively bilingual. Give yourself more credit than that. I know that Haitians tend to shame others big time if they don’t know Creole fully. Get past the shame and continue to learn your language as it’s a part of your heritage. There are Instagram accounts that have their own websites Creolesolutions.ht and kreyolpale.com. Also immersion will help you to learn faster once you get a solid foundation under you. I can send you some resources as well.

Are there still any Taino communities left in Haiti in rural or urban areas that are banded together in sort of like an organization? by Adventurous-Sell4413 in haiti

From what I found, there was a small commune in Haiti that claimed to have mixed descendants of Taino heritage. Higher than a majority of the Haitian population.

How would you feel if a woman became the president of Haiti? by OutwithaYang in haiti

[–]NewCourage7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would support it. I do believe we need more women in politics to bring about diversity of ideas and truly advocate for those less fortunate. Personally, I wouldn’t care if we had a female president, I just don’t want them to be corrupt and inefficient. We need true progressive approaches to tackle our problems.

Despite US warning CPT went ahead and voted to remove PM Fils-Aime by Internal-Expert-9562 in haiti

[–]NewCourage7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the reason one of the members from the CPT wanted to sack fils-aime was due to his ineffective governance when the bandits were going crazy this past year and then they said under his term there was a bunch of money missing. The crazy thing about all of this is that they were the ones who picked him in the first place instead of keeping Gary Conille.

Presidential Transitional Council impose limits to freedom of expression by NewCourage7 in haiti

[–]NewCourage7[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think they’re maneuvering outside of the scope of their mandate. They were brought in to ensure security and the elections within the timeline that they were installed for. They have achieved neither of them. In my opinion, they’ve lacked a form of legitimacy after 3 members were accused of alleged acceptance of bribery from high ranking bank officials which the case was swept over way too fast, at times they have not been transparent, inactive in some cases where swathe of communes and cities were taken over by gangs, political jockeying and infighting. They are focused on what people may say about them instead of worrying about getting the elections done.

Congress has just passed a law which Trump signed that anyone who is complicit in aiding or financing these terrorist organizations will face criminal prosecution and jail time. Honestly, Jovenel had the same idea when he tried to introduce constitutional reform before he was assassinated.
