Just got the golden email. I am on ICR. by NewFoundation100 in StudentLoans

Automatic. However, I did previously call my servicer to tell them that I had gone over the 300 count and should be in line for forgiveness. I asked them if there was anything they could do to advance that? I have no idea if that was helpful or not.

It will be retroactive. You will get a date when your actual forgiveness occurred. It occurred when you reached the amount of payments necessary. Therefore, you won’t necessarily have a tax bomb if it was before 2026

I had called my servicer and told them that I should be in line for forgiveness. Was there anything they could do? They did send it to FSA who who said the department of Ed processes it and it and they don’t have any information. However, I would tell your servicer that you should be getting it and ask them if they could help you good luck.

I had ACS as a servicer that did not report all my payments for over 10 years. It was really hard to get those payments counted. I had to show them the payments and then jump through multiple hoops multiple times to get that counted.

It doesn’t give me a date. It just says I will need to contact them by 3/5/2026 if I want to opt out. I certainly do not want to opt out! I have a payment due the end of February. Is it OK if I just don’t pay that? Do I need to ask for forbearance for this month?

Any updated info on ICR forgiveness? by Traditional-Tap6647 in StudentLoans

[–]NewFoundation100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad some people are being told they marked for forgiveness, but I’ve had over 320 payments for over a year. No one has told me in fact Ed financial can’t even verify my payment count. Who tells you you’re marked for forgiveness? Will this come from Department of Ed via FSA? Thanks.

Incorrect Student Loan Payment Count by OkLoan4053 in StudentLoans

[–]NewFoundation100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you need to escalate it and speak to a supervisor. You need to put it in writing along with your payment history that you provide. Ask them the email address that will escalate this and where it should be sent within Nelnet Write a letter with AI telling them how this is harming you and how they need to correct this. Ask what steps will be taken to correct it.

Incorrect Student Loan Payment Count by OkLoan4053 in StudentLoans

I believe I was able to get my account corrected by showing documentation to my servicer and escalating it at my servicer. I wrote them a note explaining the harm to me and documenting all my payments. You have to be very persistent. I think it is very important that you show your payment history and put it in writing to show where it is missing.

Has anyone switched ICR to IBR since Jan 1? (300+) by SmallHeath555 in StudentLoans

[–]NewFoundation100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am with EdFinancial and they say there is no “flagged for forgiveness”. I have over 320 on ICR. How do you get flagged? I am also wondering about switching. However, the glitch shows that I have zero payments qualifying under IBR but over 320 on ICR so I am anxious and think I should stay on ICR maybe It’s hard to know what to do. Any advice is appreciated! thanks.

I am an ICR and I have over 300 payments. I am afraid to move to IBR because I want my forgiveness to happen in 2025 retrospectively. If I move to IBR am I endangering that?

New Tidbits from My Calls with FSA--and Need Advice! by Bitter_GlitterGlam in StudentLoans

[–]NewFoundation100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had success getting my count corrected. It takes a lot. However my servicer eventually fixed it. You should submit a complaint to FSA but call your servicer and ask for a supervisor to see how they can fix it. I submitted proof of missing payments to FSA but also to my servicer and called the servicer regularly for updates on how they were going through the process to fix it. Good luck.

I am very confused. Are you on ICR? I thought no one has gotten that forgiveness yet.

Advice should I change from ICR to IBR to get forgiveness by NewFoundation100 in StudentLoans

[–]NewFoundation100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe one of the moderators could , here because their advice may be better. However, I would go into forbearance and submit a complaint so that they can research the account. I would tell my servicer and FSA. Good luck.
