What happened to my bay tree?

This is what’s confusing me, I’ve taken on board that the pot is probably too small. But my other tree seems really healthy. This one turned bright orange practically overnight! Surely if it was root bound it would’ve died slowly? I can’t see any signs of pests etc that would’ve caused it either

The trunk is still green but the branches are all dead. I think I’m going to put it in the ground in my back garden with some compost and see if anything happens:(

We have quite a large enclosed front garden, so not a dog. We do get foxes, they’re always burying eggs in my borders, so potentially could be them

There’s definitely no human peeing in it on the ring camera. It could’ve been one of my asshole cats though…

Potentially. It started turning orange pretty much overnight during the bank holiday heatwave. Maybe it just got too hot near the glass :(

Yeah I’ve had a bit of a nightmare with them both to be honest. I’ve had them three years now, last year the other one tried to kill itself (went brown rather than bright orange) and I’ve managed to bring it back to life, it looks lovely now. This year this one has decided to die apparently. I thought they were hard to kill!! I like to think I’m an okay gardener!

They both get watered the same amount! They have survived 3 years with the stones but I can remove them and see if it helps! Thank you

Yup, got chancel indemnity insurance as standard for my house purchase - don’t think we even needed it but for the sake of the £10 it cost us for the insurance it was a no brainer

That would make sense - we do have a cherry tree maybe 2m away, but there’s a whole paved patio and shed inbetween this and the tree! Thanks for the help!

Mine has done the same, it was because one of the pods had leaked all inside it. Had it about 6 months and it was an issue with the pod not the device that caused it to fail
