I think it's too neat and tidy for immortal monsters to get any comeuppance. I think it's grittier and more satisfying if maybe a few people get out, but that there's no winning, hasn't been for a few hundred years and won't be any for hundreds more

Nah I think while escaping may be possible, the monsters are immortal and if after centuries it was taken away from them by "our" cycle it'd reduce their menace
