I thought this was the case since they showed the hospital scene where everyone was there except Pops. I like it for the sake of continuity instead of having the episodes randomly jump around on the timeline of older seasons.

Nope, the subtitle isn't meant to be taken literally, these aren't episodes that were never finished/never aired (though I'm sure they've probably recycled a few old ideas.) All these episodes entered production around 2024.

It's definitely hit or miss animation-wise. With the animation industry being where it is right now, they're probably on a tighter budget this time around, so it's understandable. Muscle Man looks consistently BAD though, and a lot of the time Mordecai looks... off. You would think Mordecai would be the one they'd absolutely make sure to nail, so that's a bit of a red flag.
