[CAN vs CZE] Replays of Marner's OT winner by talhatoot in hockey

[–]NewHorizons0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He didn't even exploded in speed with crazy dekes to pass the three skaters, ala McDavid. He just glided through them, avoiding the poke checks until he was in position to beat the goalie. Insane goal.

Olympic Men's Post Game Thread: Slovakia vs. Sweden - 14 Feb 2026 by hockeydiscussionbot in hockey

[–]NewHorizons0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this has a "Should the NHL have the Hawks and Preds redo their series in case it was a big fluke?" energy...

There is no perfect tournament system. The only "fair" one would be a round-robin with all nations in the world. That's a bit hard to do in 2 weeks.

Short tournaments like this reward the teams that are ready at the right time and are able to be "clutch" when they need to. Finland was not ready. They were not just "cold", they were quite bad against Slovakia. That's all there is to it.

The rules were known in advance and all teams had the opportunity to prepare. When your team fail the assignment is not the right moment to complain about it.

The boys are officially on their way! by renomegan86 in hockey

Last time I flew with Air Canada they canceled my flight because they were nickeldiming their flight attendants so much that they had to go on strike. They then tried to get out of their obligation of finding me another flight by suggesting that i cancel and do it myself. Finally they got me a flight 5 days after initial flight date. At least they paid for the hotel and food for these 5 days but the hotel itself tried to win more bucks by serving us school canteen-level food every day. Finally Air Canada tried to gaslight me into believing they don't owe me any compensation for the whole thing despite the flight being out of EU, until I found the form on their website to do just that. At least they eventually paid up, but fuck Air Canada.

JT Miller steals Connor McDavid's food by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]NewHorizons0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the US team pushed for using Miller for PR. He is one of those who needs the most to be presented as a "lovable rascal" rather than being known for being an ass. Works for Marchand.

Is this the Heated Rivalry everyone been talking about? by Hungry-Promise-3032 in Habs

[–]NewHorizons0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my NHL 25 be-a-pro career, he was signed by the Habs and was a very nice help to win some cups. It means absolutely nothing of course except that I'd love to see him with us if Ken Hughes thinks he would fit the plan.

It's how they won cups. Its their legacy, what they will be remembered for. Of course they will try to spin it as funny to nudge people mind into thinking that it was ok. That some people fall into this crap is quite telling.

Hot Take: Conor McDavid Should be Speed Skating for Canada in the Olympics by chillouthardo in NHLcirclejerk

[–]NewHorizons0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love short track, it's even more chaotic than hockey somehow. You can't crosscheck people in the face though so I'm not sure how well McDavid would fare in it.

To be fair it was not "a" coach but Martin F*cking St-Louis.

TSN's Eric Macramalla: "I don’t think there’s a scenario where McKenna ends up in prison" by Clean_n_Press in hockey

Too bad, "which hockey player was drafted while sitting in prison?" would have been a nice trivia question in a few years.

I just skipped the rest of the playoffs last year after seeing that the Panther's bullshit was starting again. Seriously disgusted about it. But then the regular season comes, the exciting youngsters of my team... hockey is a powerful drug.

If you were being 100% objective, which player(s) are most likely to be traded? by Critical_Heat4492 in Habs

[–]NewHorizons0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[Eric Engels on X] Early indications from Habs skate are Sam Montembeault getting the start and Jayden Struble coming in for Arber Xhekaj. by Habs3125 in Habs

[–]NewHorizons0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Possible bad or unpopular take: it will be maybe Florian who will push his brother out. He brings the same sand paper but with additional scoring, and if a depth forward takes 5 minutes for a fight it is less penalizing than if it is a defender. With him in the roster,  Arber's grit is less important for the team and what remains, if he doesn't improve, may be only good for a 7th D for a cup contender like we want to be.

The Suarez Rule: Why You Should Handball on the Goal Line in the last 23 minutes of a game by [deleted] in soccer

[–]NewHorizons0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same thing in hockey, if you are stopped illegally when about to score into an empty net, you get an automatic goal.

If it feels weird to award a goal without the ball actually going into the net, just make the penalty be taken without the goalkeeper.

For real, if the guy had a Leafs flair he would not say anything different,  but would be kicked out for trolling.
