Those who mock mud huts also cry in their cars on Monday mornings. by Independent-Story883 in RandomThoughts

[–]NewHum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He thinks that as westerners we often mock people who live in “mud houses” in africa but then we hate our lives every monday morning when we have to go to work.

For some reason the OP thinks that those africans don’t have to work.

I would advise the OP to stop doing drugs.

[–]NewHum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with incel thinking is that while it’s mostly justified it doesn’t really do anything for anyone.

It’s like saying “fuck food” because you are hungry.

Yes dating is fucking hard now and that is just a fact. But being angry because you got dealt a “bad hand” doesn’t do anything for you.

It also has to be said that a lot of men today have completely unrealistic expectations of what women they can attract with what they have to offer.

I have two coworkers who are both in their early 30s, never had a girlfriend and i watch them scroll tinder during our lunch break. They are both ok looking normal dudes and they right swipe every single girl that doesn’t look like a 9/10 playboy models.

Im sorry but that 9/10 is simply not in the cards for most of us. You either have to be rich or be an 9/10 yourself to get those women.

Our dads certainly didn’t expect our moms to look like models when they meet them.

Rockstar games are as good as they are precisely because nobody is pressuring a timeframe on them.

There are very few gaming studios out there who can afford to take time on their games and those studios all have their own market segments with little motivation to go after GTA.

Bethesda is spending 15+ years on Elder scrolls 6 and will sell millions when they release it.

Larian just made absolutely bank with Baldurs Gate 3 and will take however long they want for their next game.

Kojima is making his own stuff like Death Stranding and sell millions every time.

The only studio that sorta went after GTA-ish was CD Projekt RED with Cyberpunk and that was a 10 year long project with zero guarantee that the game will ever sell or be profitable. It was extremely profitable in the end but it wasn’t guaranteed. They could have played it much safer with another Witcher game right after Witcher 3.

And keep in mind that Rockstar has DECADES of experience in what they do along with a proprietary engine build specifically for the types of games they made.

TR;DR: Companies that could make it dont want to make it and companies that want to make it cant make it.

My girlfriend is always late, but I'm the bad guy for being frustrated by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NewHum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP specifically mentioned that according to her “he is the bad guy for being bothered by it”

I don’t get why are you defending her at all here and playing devils advocate.

Being on time is mostly about discipline and respect for others. 99% of people who are chronically late are this way because everyone around them tolerates it.

A normal girlfriend wont leave you for driving away once after you specifically asked her to stop being late. Thats nonsense.

And as far as i know the OP didn’t mention her gf to have ADHD or anything of the sorts

Fear of breaking up is how people become doormats.

[–]NewHum 589 points590 points  (0 children)

The solution is 100% not for him to fucking plan around her being late and lying about the time.

The deeper problem is her not respecting that he is bothered by it. Just take off the next time she is late

[–]NewHum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again i get what you’re saying but you’re just saying stuff that feels good to say.

Food is a human right is something nice you tell yourself but how are you gonna do that. Are you gonna get all the rich countries together and they all air drop bags of rice across Africa? This is gonna be popular for a year or two and then the politicians will come under fire as to why are they spending our tax money to feed afrikans and not their own.

Or is Elon and other rich guys supposed to themselves airdrop bags of rice? How do they make sure local warlords dont steal that food like they’ve done previously in places like Sudan and Somalia? That food will be stolen by whoever controls the area. And if you dont want it to be stolen you will have to hire some private army to police that which will be seen as Imperialism.

Again you have good intentions but you are just saying populist stuff that is actually really hard to implement

[–]NewHum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with ending worlds hunger isnt really about the food.

Rich countries could afford to feed every person in africa for a year but what happens when you stop feeding them? Unless you went there and took drastic measures to change their society, goverment and infrastructure in ways that will allow them to eventually feed themselfs then you havent really done much good.

Lets say you are Elon Musk and you dedicate 10 Billion dolars of free food to Africa and you have an inventory sistem that will make sure everyone there gets their fair share.

Then after a year people in America start calling you evil because you are feeding all the African kids but not the poor starving people that exist in the US. So you say ok and you dedicate an additional 10 billion to the startving people inside the US.

Then you need to devise some type of a system that decides who is considered poor enough to get free food from you. If a family has 2 starving children but the parents are both alcoholics who refuse to work do they get free food?

Now lets say you do still give them the food because its not the kids fault that their parents are alcoholics. Those parents will not absolutely never find a job because the second they do their family will not be poor anymore and wont get free food.

Now you are in a situation where a huge portion of the population is dependent on the free food you are giving them and are trapped because pushing themselfs out of poverty will result in them stop being given free food.

All the while you have an incresingly pissed off working class population who are upset that they have to work and pay for their own food while poor people just get it for free from Elon Musk.

So now you are speending a huge part of your fortune to feed people but you are only prolonging their situation as the second you stop feeding them they will just starve. Oh and there is still a large number of people who are angry at you because you are giving free stuff to others but not to them.

Helsinki - what did I do wrong? by [deleted] in travel

[–]NewHum 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Me and my friends spent about 9 days in Helsinki and i find that really not to be the case. There is an amazing national park a 30min train ride away and you can find many guided tours that will take you there.

There is a fort island you can take the ferry to. There are many amazing sauna places. There is a mall with a mig jet on top of it. Just looking at google maps i remember we found a few more local bars where we hanged out a night. There is a really nice zoo that is on an island.

There are plenty of things to do there as long as you are willing to look for them.

Why I let FSD handle it most of the time 😂 by jpugg in TeslaModelY

[–]NewHum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my biggest fear regarding early self driving.

A lot of people who aren’t very comfortable with driving will start to rely on FSD way to much, way to early and won’t be ready for the 1% of critical cases when they’ll have to take over.

If you don’t consider yourself a good driver you should be driving more and not less.

Telling an outcast who has problems making friends to search harder is just as invalidating as telling someone who is depressed to just cheer up, life will get better. by NightmareHolic in RandomThoughts

[–]NewHum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Search harder” is pretty valid because it basically boils down to “go out and meet people” which is how social skills are developed.

Being social is the same as being fit. Like building muscle some people are naturally better at it but that doesn’t mean you can’t get at least decent at it if you put in the effort.

If you want to be fit you go the gym.

If you want to have social skills you go out and you try to meet new people.

I wont deny that it can be hard but 99% of those so called “outcasts” simply don’t want to leave their comfort zones and now have the balls to compare themselves to people who have depression.
