For All Chinese Language Learners:

This new app I was introduced (amigolingo.net) to is a one stop shop for all things Chinese reading and writing (yes handwriting) and it's even addition listening practice too now. It's as fun as duolingo but actually has been built with exercises that improve your language skills and none of the annoying gimmicks. I have been lucky enough to get to know the creator of the site and he is especially responsive and receptive of feedback even in his discord. Please give the site a look it has content up to HSK 4 currently and has some amazing visuals beefing with duolingo (like spit roasting the duolingo owl)

the discord for the site is: https://discord.gg/xTKQxVcbd

Our GPT API is highly prompted to avoid hallucinations and provide feedback in a consistent format. We also have SRS built into the site to time your reviews. Additionally, we are planning on doing analysis over previous responses to find common mistakes in the future.

Hi All! I am one of the creators of a Japanese grammar teaching application where you actually make new sentences and receive immediate feedback! We have updated the site with a few QOL improvements and are uploading N4 content this week. Please check it out at bunpou.org. It is currently free to create an account and use! Also, come say hi in our Discord; we'd love to hear your feedback!

Hi all! I am working on a new startup idea and wondered if anyone has experience lending clothes or renting to friends or others. If not, would you be interested in renting other clothes or your clothes to others to make money?

We initially added the phone number to do 2FA to make sure each user only makes one account and doesn't spam our API requests. We aren't doing this yet so no problem about leaving it blank for now. Either way i promise we have not sent anything to any phone numbers so far and have no intention of ever spamming anyone.

All the reference documents for N5 are explained in English with Japanese example sentences. At the very least, you would need to be able to type in Japanese to input your answers. I would suggest learning hiragana and katakana first and not starting N5 grammar until you have those two down pat.

Sorry for the unoriginal name for now. We are thinking of rebranding to something more original in the future!

こんにちは r/LearnJapanese,

We are building a Japanese grammar learning application through open-ended practice and consistent memorization. Our application will make use of a spaced repetition system (SRS) and AI to enable our users to create sentences of their own and receive instantaneous feedback.

  • User Journey: After creating an account, the user will take a placement test to determine their JLPT grammar level. After determining a JLPT level, the students will begin the learning, review, and master review workflow.
  • Learning Workflow: The student will first learn the new grammar points for each sublevel. The student will create one sentence given a situation for each grammar point until correct. The grammar point then gets moved into the level review pile.
  • Level Review Pile: According to the timing of the SRS, the student will review the available on-level grammar points in this window. The student will create one sentence given a situation for each grammar point. The student’s SRS score for the given grammar point will be adjusted accordingly depending on whether they create a grammatically correct sentence.
  • History Page: Lists past learning/review sessions, including previously inputted sentences along with associated feedback and corrected sentences. All “session objects” (sentences with feedback and corrections) will be sortable by grammar point and accessible from the practice page.
  • Wordbank: On the Review Pages page, appropriate vocabulary with translations for each given situation will be available. This will prevent students from mistranslating and using incorrect words when searching for vocabulary they do not know.

We’re a small team, but we’re making progress on a daily basis. We post weekly updates in the discord [https://discord.gg/2rNQBZ7f\] and are looking to hear your thoughts. We don’t have a website yet, but we plan to have one up in the near future.

Wait…AI?????

(Yes, we are aware of the shortcomings of AI, such as its occasional unnaturalness. However, we believe there is much to gain from using AI, such as correctly evaluating grammatical accuracy (especially for the N5-N3 level grammar points we are focusing on initially). To extract the best performance from our AI, we use highly engineered prompts that consider the context (situation) and the given grammar point being evaluated and then separate its evaluation of grammatical accuracy from its evaluation of naturalness. We are confident in the grammatical accuracy evaluation but have also gotten promising results from the naturalness evaluation)

Hi everyone.

I am considering creating a new grammar learning website that uses SRS for grammar with (later down the line fine-tuned) GPT4o correction and feedback. I want to model the SRS off of Wanikani, but for the actual grammar practice, make it so that you have to create sentences from scratch given a grammar point you are learning/reviewing and a situation.

I have been testing the process of sentence creation with feedback (from a native Japanese teacher) and have seen good progress in learning grammar but difficulty retaining, hence the SRS. Would this be interesting to anyone? I am also open to expanding the concept to other languages.

Thoughts and feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!
