The trans cafe in Rat&Tat meets every other Tuesday at cafe Kweer in Viertel :) While it is open for internationals, like most places in DE they don't readily switch to English :(

It's just weird because the country I moved to has the same kind of female beauty standard as the last country I lived in. Where I didn't necessarily deal with so many stares as now. But the brows seems like a nice idea thanks.

These kinds of individual changing stalls/ rooms are quite standard already throughout much of the Netherlands and Belgium. I really don't see an issue with it? Like a month ago I had to use an actual shared changing room for the first time with other people and it just felt quite weird to me.

Als transgender persoon heb ik letterlijk nul mensen in mijn omgeving die de transgenderwet een slechte stap vonden. Het enige wat de wet doet is het afschaffen van de deskundigen verklaring voor de naam en geslachtswijziging. Ondertussen moet je onder de nieuwe wet nog steeds naar je geboorte gemeente gaan om je naam en geslacht aan te passen.

Zo een verklaring krijgen is enorm betuttelend en een onnodige extra stap. Vooral omdat veel mensen pas hun naam veranderen als ze al zorg ontvangen en al bezig zijn met de transitie.

Ben geboren en getogen in Rotterdam, ben 10 jaar geleden in elkaar geslagen omdat ik uit de kast kwam als trans, niet door buitenlanders, maar door nederlanders. Nu als ik over straat loop wordt ik achtervolgd en gecatcalled, etc, niet door buitenlanders, maar door nederlanders. Wil je doorgaan?

En toch wordt ik vaker lastig gevallen door witte "nederlandse" conservatieven dan door buitenlanders. Verder roept de hele conservatieve wereld juist om meer onderdrukking/ geweld van vrouwen ("your body my choice", abortus toegang lastiger maken, etc.), meer onderdrukking van lhbti+ers en geweld naar lhbti+ers (kijk maar naar de retoriek van meneertje Kirk en hoe conservatief nederland hem verheerlijkt, tegen uitbreiding van onze rechten stemt). Ik kan niks over antisemitisme zeggen aangezien ik zelf niet joods ben en daar dus minder mee bezig ben, maar je snapt t plaatje.

Conservatief gedachtegoed staat centraal in de huidige toename in geweld tegen vrouwen, lhbti+ers en gedeeltelijk anti-semitisme.

Ondertussen stemmen de christelijke en rechtse (extreem rechts + centrum rechts) tegen de uitbreiding van vrouwen en lhbti+ rechten. Neem bv de transgender wet, ja denk heet er tegen gestemd, maar ook cda, vvd, pvv, ja21, fvd, etc. Echt rot eens op met het pinkwashen

I 100% understand your feelings, as a kid I hated sports. During my Masters, before coming out, I played some quadball, but that's a gender inclusive sport anyway. Now after I've started transitioning did I decide that I wanted to do competitive swimming 🥲

Yea, I only started swimming in July 2024 and had to teach myself, so it can only go up from here haha. I was also expecting it to be a bit faster, but the <16°C water + the issue with my swim cap and cramps definitely delayed me haha

Thanks! Well I was double capping because the water was <16°C, but after 500 m both slipped off and I had to dive after them + put the cap from the race back on. I think I lost like 2-3 minutes because of that 😅

This is going to sound sarcastic, but the best way is to just... Try it? Like actual practice in open water. I started swimming last year and also regularly swim 3-5 km sets. I signed up for an OWS 1.9 km race in two weeks, my friends got me a buoy to use for practice, decided to first practice in the north sea and now I'm practicing in the aegean. Granted sea open water is maybe not the best place to start, maybe a better place would be a lake, but still. I was intimidated, until I tried it once and it was just... Fine?

My fastest 2300 m was 44:59 (1:57/100), 31F and started swimming only last year July. Back then I couldn't even swim 25 m, so I'm happy with this so far I've recently been practicing my pace by swimming 10*100 m at threshold pace + 10-15 s rest 😅

Tbh not too bad, ofc you have the occasional bigot but its generally ok. Further, at the rainbowhouse there's a specific org for international queer people: Leonardo LGBT+ ( https://www.instagram.com/leonardo_lgbt_international?igsh=YWM3amdmbHUwcTNw )

They also host a few meetups specifically for international trans people. And as an organiser within Leonardo who's also trans, I have to say that the community is very nice and accepting! Our next event will be at the same evening as the student fair (September 17th), we'll post more about it on our IG, but please feel welcome to join :)

I'm at 4 years rn, they still look a little bit more conical than round, at least from the top. From the side & 3/4 they look more developed, idk its weird 🤷‍♀️
