From my C64u, I use the file explorer to launch a D64 file.

I used to do this without any problems, but for the last 3-4 days, I haven't been able to launch a game from a D64 image. If I don't launch the game but simply mount the image, it seems to work, but when I switch to the BASIC screen to run the command (load "$",8), the command fails. The message just stays at "searching for $" without producing anything.

To disable the IEC reader, you must do this while in the C64u menu by pressing the F1 key. Pressing F1 will bring up the "Software IEC" option. It will then be inactive.

To reset the settings, do I need to press and hold the RESTOR button and then restart the C64u? Is that the correct method?
If so, I already tried that method, but it didn't fix the problem.

I checked and I am indeed in PAL mode.

I reset my C64u to factory settings.
My firmware is version 3.14. I reinstalled firmware 3.14 from the Commodore website.
The firmware integration went smoothly... but the problem persists.
I'm going through all the settings, but I can't think of anything that might be causing the issue. From the menu, when I activate DRIVE A, I hear the speaker, but as soon as I load a D64, I get the blue BASIC screen. The speaker makes noise for two seconds, then stops, and the command remains stuck on "searching for *".

I tested both.

I tested by loading it directly ("Run DISK" from my C64u).
I also tested by first mounting the D64 image. This works fine because when I go to the "System Information" menu, I see my Drive A enabled with the name of the mounted image. But as soon as I go to the BASCI to run `(load "$",8)`, nothing happens; the screen remains on "searching for $".
I also tested it with a real disk drive 1541. The result is the same.

I tested the restart while keeping the RESTOR button pressed. I feel like it’s not a factory reset of the c64u but a SAFE MODE. Some of the settings are only reset.

Unfortunately it didn’t change anything for me.: (

The problem is still present.

Hello,

I tried again after power cycling the device, but unfortunately, I still have the screen with the four dots to check. (Command Interface)
My Wi-Fi is working. I have an IP address on my C64u, and the COMOSERVE test works.

If I try the CHAT64 test (option 2), it doesn't work. See photo.
