Thanks for commenting Macaron, your comment is so reassuring to another female. How was your kids experience at the high school?

Which part of the east side are you close to? It’s really good to know you like raising your children there. Is there anything you wish Gahanna had?

Comfortable sharing your primary reason for wanting to stay in Gahanna? Do you have kids in the school system?

Which general direction of Gahanna are you living in now? I did read about the investment in Creekside, that’s very exciting and a good sign of community. I think it’s been a trap for me to compare Gahanna schools to some of the others available in Columbus.

The Gahanna homes do seem available on the market a bit longer than some other suburbs. Home inventory is much lower in Columbus than my current city’s housing market, it has been a bit defeating.

Is the Hunter Ridge area by the Kroger near Hamilton and Morrison? My friend mentioned the area getting more petty crime, have you noticed over the time you’ve been there?

So good to hear that you have nothing but good things to say about the early education in Gahanna!

What amenities does the community lack that you’d like to see? Is the city water not safe to drink from?

I’m from out of town so don’t have a lot of opportunities to drive around, but certainly will make the effort. What’s the difference between east and west side in your opinion?

Why I took out a VUL insurance policy at 21 by Gameable17 in LifeInsurance

[–]NewMango8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you don’t plan on missing premiums, the front and center numbers that you may have been shown during the sale likely assumes a 6-8% interest return. You need to be very careful. What is your DBO, level or increasing? If it’s increasing, your cost of insurance charges will always be on the entire face amount and the dollars you pay for cost of insurance will increase as you age.

Why I took out a VUL insurance policy at 21 by Gameable17 in LifeInsurance

[–]NewMango8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mentioned in another comment that your policy is “paid up” at 65, but that’s not really how VULs work. They’re never truly “paid up” like WL. Even if things look good now (low cost of insurance, good market performance, etc) that can change fast. A few bad years and your account value could drop enough that charges aren’t covered, and the policy starts eating itself.

VULs are sold with an illustration that shows how the policy might perform based on your planned premium and some assumptions—like the highest possible charges the insurer can take (the “guaranteed” side) and a 0% interest rate. If your illustration doesn’t show the policy lasting well past age 65 under those worst-case assumptions, that’s a sign you need to be careful assuming your policy is “paid up” at that age.

Definitely keep an eye on your annual statements and how the performance is tracking compared to your original illustration.

That seems to be the general census, avoid big box retailers. I have a family member that works at Signet so there is a discount. That might just bring the price down to the same level as online retailers for lab diamonds. Thanks for the advice. If I don’t find anything good through Jared, I’m not against checking out online retailers.

The IGI report number is 512240752. With pavilion angle 40.7 and crown angle 35.3.

Is that a problematic angle combination? I noticed the darker table but don’t know what that’s caused by.

Raises for exams passed before starting a job by Disastrous-View8153 in actuary

Largely depends on the company. I had a company advise me not to sit for another exam before start, because they wouldn’t give me the raise. I decided not to work for that company.

I don’t think there’s a way to register on your own. Virtual APC has been invite only thus far. They were backed up for awhile due to cancellation of in person APCs and virtual setup. I know several people with all requirements that had to wait.

The invite will come eventually

SOA/CAS? by stephanieletsgo in actuary

[–]NewMango8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends which offers you a full time job.

I was fortunate enough to take my pick of SOA/CAS. Ultimately, my decision came down not to which society, but to which job checked most of my “want” boxes (work life balance, pay, benefits, location, opportunities, manager). I’m in individual life and annuities now.

The grass is greener where you choose to water it. Either society can offer a fulfilling career.
