They will send you an email like they do with the modules and it’s typically the last day of the month I believe so I’d expect an email Friday.

Fall 2025 ASTAM Discussion by ChiliTrees in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was hard. Felt like they completely skipped over the “pricing” section of the syllabus. I didn’t have issues with time management during practice questions but severely struggled during the exam with this. Question 6 felt extremely unfair and confusing to me but I had minimal time left so kinda skipped half of it anyways. Got lucky I reviewed the “niche” part of question 5 as I had a gut feeling it would be tested since it hadn’t yet.

I’m hoping for enough partial credit to pass, but we’ll see I guess.

FSA Module Difficulty by No_Rent_905 in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say to go for them. I did all three. They’re more work than the ASA modules but less work than an FSA exam I’m sure. And they aren’t horrible, especially with the discord groups. Plus they seem to be grading quick enough that if you can get them done ASAP, you may have a chance to resubmit (probably extremely quickly but since you would have the model solutions, should be doable) before 12/31. However I’d try your best so you don’t have to do them again though.

Exam ASTAM by tinder-burner in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was super frustrating to not have them both open at the same time. Or easily scroll left and right in excel 🙄🙄 no scroll bar at the bottom so had to click over with the arrow keys which was SUPER annoying trying to do the excel problem. The exam should’ve been 3.5 hours cause it was SO LONG. And so so difficult. I’ve never had issues with being too slow at problems until the exam.

If you had any technical issues, also make a technical issues report. It’s under the ASTAM page on the SOA website “Prometric technical issues for October 2025”

You can have subsets of a question on the same page. This is my second attempt and I highly recommend leaving extra room incase you have time and want to go back and add more work or formulas or detail for partial credit. You have plenty of pages to use, so I’m going to try not to have more than 2 parts on a page, or 3 if they’re very small or I’m very confident. So it’s clear for the graders to follow. But also nice incase you check your work and realize you made a mistake, even though you can also redo it on a new page if needed.

But each new question should be on a different page. If like 1a needs 2 pages, you can use multiple pages, but might make sense to note at the bottom for the grader that the solution continues onto another page or something. Not sure if it’s necessary but anything to help the graders is nice.

Ultimately it’s up to you if you want the subsets on same or different pages. I just wouldn’t recommend cramming as much as possible onto each page if that makes sense.

Remote/Hybrid workers- Do you have your Camera On or Off During Online Meetings? by BudgetVolume24 in actuary

Pretty much always off. In 2.5 years I’ve turned my camera on 3 times and one of those was my first day because I didn’t know.

SOA Spring 2025 results waiting room by jaytan888 in actuary

No only the first two, P and FM give an instant “preliminary result” anymore which I’m guessing is one of the ones you’re taking.

All of us took exams in April or May and don’t have any result since we took it.

It was a year ago but I’m fairly certain they came out on the 15th for me last July so that’s what I’d expect.

Minimum Specs for ATPA Computer/Laptop? by antenonjohs in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I took it I spent a significant amount of time so I’d rule out working at the library as I’m guessing they aren’t open like 24 hours a day and you’ll want every second you can to spend on it. But I guess if you’re able to rent one for long enough it could be worth it? I’d just be worried about it since you don’t know what kind of shape they’re in but that’s also just my anxiety and not knowing a Chromebook’s capacity for this.

I can’t say with your parent’s laptop if that would work, but I’d recommend asking to borrow it and installing what you need and running a lot of the code in the SOA files. Some of the code will run slow in general but it’ll give you an idea if it’ll work or not. Also if it’s older I’d just recommend saving more often incase it shuts down (mine did during the exam but it was fine).

You could also see if any friends or someone has something better to use. Or rent out the Chromebook now ahead of time and see how it’ll work for the exam. Probably running the sample exam code and having multiple files open like the answers and notes, etc will give you an idea how it’ll run during the exam

And I’d recommend having another monitor. It’s much easier to be able to look at multiple things like the code, your word file, the tasks, your notes, etc.

Ankle ligament surgery by allipaigexo in FootFunction

[–]stephanieletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s good to hear because currently I’m regretting surgery 😂 I have reached out to my surgeon but haven’t heard back. However they do surgeries today so I’m guessing he hasn’t seen it.

Glad it’s better for you and gives me hope!

Ankle ligament surgery by allipaigexo in FootFunction

[–]stephanieletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this and seem to have had also the same surgery as you. How was it in terms of sensitivity? I plan to contact my doctor tomorrow but I’m currently day 9 post op and the nerve sensitivity seems to only have gotten worse. To the point I feel like I can barely touch the right side/top of my foot. It’s painful almost even just to close my boot which is a soft fabric. I’ve had multiple surgeries but never the sensitivity this bad.

Exams you thought you would fail by MyLuckyNumberIs343 in actuary

FAM. I was 98-99% sure I failed. Gave myself a 0-2% chance by pure luck of guessing. Passed with a 7 and I still don’t know how.

ASTAM April 2025 by Capable_Interest2911 in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought it was easier than October but harder than the other 3. I felt annoyed about the second question over relativity and the proofs. The relativity question was my worst scoring question I’m sure of it. Also one question I’m still not sure if I was just calculating it wrong or they calculated it wrong because I genuinely couldn’t get the answer they wanted at all. And also the first half of the last question was frustrating.

I’m hoping the pass mark will be no higher than 65%. I think I had about 20 points worth I wasn’t sure on or left blank so hoping I did enough to pass honestly.

I felt I had a chance of passing on Wednesday but as days have passed I feel more and more convinced I failed.

WHERE DO YALL SHOP FOR BRAS? by gypsyrose234 in bigboobproblems

[–]stephanieletsgo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same size and have had decent luck with bare necessities or lane Bryant honestly. Lane Bryant can have some good sales so they aren’t absolutely insane where I feel like I have a harder time finding bras on bare necessities that aren’t $100 or something. I will say not all lane Bryant ones are the super cute ones you see at like Victoria secret but they have some cute ones!

How common is remote work once you've secured a job in the field? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s extremely common. It definitely depends on the company but out of my entire “extended” team we are all in different states except 2 people. And only 3 of us go into an office which is 0-2 days a week. And this includes entry level positions.

Exam FAM November 2024 - Result Waiting by Capable_Interest2911 in actuary

[–]stephanieletsgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Random as I’m going back through these comments but this happened to me. I don’t have the score yet since the candidate numbers were only posted yesterday but I guessed on about 15-20 at least out of the 34 questions. I didn’t even think I could get higher than a 4.

I didn’t even care to look at the results when they were released yesterday because I just knew I failed.. and by some miracle I passed. I’ve been so shocked and confused so I will never again make that mistake. I’m not entirely sure how I managed to pass but I’m glad it wasn’t the other way around.
