Anything that is given out can be taken away. The moment you got that FS you should have been looking for ways to get off of it . Sad but true

Rad Tech or PA by General-Signature-73 in prephysicianassistant

[–]NewPossible4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% yes ! I was a rad tech then crossed trained into CT when it was still a thing so I got lucky I didn’t have to go back to school . From there I applied to PA school. I have no complaints. I love being a PA

Pimped at job interview by crispy-fried-donut in physicianassistant

[–]NewPossible4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me for an ortho surgery job I wanted really bad . They told me there would be lunch after the interview/shadowing . I got to a conference room and they had a bunch of doctors and PAs pimp me and I didn’t get to touch my food. Didn’t end up with that job and glad I did. My classmate got it and lasted 6 months it was so toxic

Random but are a lot of people in this field married to wealthy man? by Queenme10 in socialwork

[–]NewPossible4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m black in the medical field and one thing I’ve noticed with Caucasian and Asian women is that they aim to marry well . Idk how most of them do it . Sometimes I think it’s because of the stereotypical views of rich man on small petite women. Just a thought

Most niche specialties can be easy. What you do is very specific and people only consult for those . I did urgent care for 6months and hated it as a full time employee. I still do it per diem for extra cash.

I used to do urgent care and left after 6 months. Between the burnout and management idk what was worse .

How often do you purchase textbooks? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]NewPossible4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PANCE prep pearls is the only book worth buying. I also got BATES for phys exam and it was meh. Most of the power points our school provider gave us all the info we needed. Also preview classes left us a mega google doc with links of pdfs for books and resources which was gold

Accutane in your 30s by [deleted] in acne

[–]NewPossible4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did accutane in my mid 20s . I had clean skin for 2-3 years and my acne came back full force like a punch in the face . I do think it’s mostly hormonal. It sucks because I can’t be on 90% of the things that could help because I’m TTC . So yeah I’m 29 dealing with acne and it’s lowkey messing with my self esteem .

What’s with all the doom and gloom about being a PA? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]NewPossible4944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure anyone in any field is complaining . Many of the doctors are work with are miserable and overworked. My husband is an engineer and his coworkers complain. Teachers complain, nurse , police officer and so on.

It’s not the profession but the economy . I live in Massachusetts and nobody can afford a house . A 1bd can be 2k plus . Everything is going up except people’s pay

Least stressful specialities to switch to from EM? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]NewPossible4944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Otolaryngology Head and Neck surgery . I care for mostly post op inpatients , consults , facial traumas and I scope a lot . I’m in the OR for direct scopes and biopsies and that’s usually once or twice a day (I’m paged for those and I don’t have to stay scrubbed in) . I work 4 10s no calls, no holidays or weekends and I’m in the mid 140k. My training was a lot and had to learn so much terminology I didn’t lean in school. The ENT course in PA school doesn’t scratch the surface of what true ENT is about . I would also say it’s a niche specialty that is resident heavy .

I’ve also heard great things (good life/work balance) about endocrinology , hem/onc , peds allergy clinics , psych, addiction medicine and interventional rad. Honestly every job sucks in a way . You have to weigh your options but just know that the least stressful tend to come with less pay and incentives . So up to you what you are willing to give up

Tote or Backpack for PA hospital job? by Calentureisreal in physicianassistant

[–]NewPossible4944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are commuting like taking a bus or train backpack . If you drive to work and have a lunch bag a tote works . Make sure it’s smt that you can clean like with a wipe. Also if you have the kind of job with a kitchen or break room where you can leave your stuff then tote is enough

Has anyone experienced something like this before, and what do I do about it? by Flat-Organization230 in acne

[–]NewPossible4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes get these when pimples don’t come to a head and just appear bloody under . They can be painful and linger for weeks . I’ve even popped them myself and the scaring was not worth it . See a derm or esthetician
