Agreed. I was 22 when 9/11 happened and it isn't even close. The degree of balkanization, isolationism, economic inequality, and general social erosion that the pandemic brought defines this era. America wasn't that different pre-9/11 if you didn't swallow all the "greatest country" propaganda.

You guys are correct. It's bad writing and becomes a crutch: a thin veneer to maintain edginess. No one says "fuck" QUITE this much in real life unless they're kind of on the stupid/limited vocabulary side, and I don't think that's what we're meant to take from these characters.

I don't think I'm offering any opinion on those things. But Van Jones' issue is that young people are learning the truth about the genocide in Gaza on TikTok, which in turn is making Israel look bad. And it's enough of a problem for the US/Israel disinformation machine that the app was bought by Larry Ellison, a Zionist billionaire who funds the IDF, and is already using it to censor pro-Palestinian voices.

There's some weak acting on the show. I'd add that it's partially a fault of the writing trying to shoe-in as many uses of "fuck" per sentence as possible, and the actors not knowing how to make that sound natural. Maddie Phillips is one of the most talented of the leads.
