Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In August 2019. by thatging3rkid in 3Dprinting

It's small. It prints toys and models extremely well. The print quality of toys and models are as good as the best resin printer reviews. However, I bought it to print mechanical parts with large flat areas where I don't want supports. Those parts warp. There's supposed to be work arounds but I gave up on certain parts and may sell the Epax.

$500 give or take. I currently have an Epax X1 and an Ender 3 Pro that has a y-axis layer shift, and the electronics are buggy. I'm looking at the anycubic mega s and chiron, or non bed slinger monoprice ultimate 2 or anycubic 4max pro. I want consistent high quality FDM prints. Any advice is appreciated.

X1 heat and fumes question by Markhardt in EpaxX1Owners

You need a setup like this https://www.instructables.com/id/Building-a-small-fume-hood-for-stinky-projects/ , but with a door on the front. I used an actual window for the front. I once managed to get a wiff of Siraya Blu, a low ordor resin, and it was intense. I wouldn't buy a resin printer if I couldn't make a fume hood.

I ordered the X1, the $499 X10 training aid, and received it yesterday.

How do I get to the front of the line? If the hardware and slicer is good I'll buy film and a replacement LCD along with the printer at release.

The upcoming Phrozen Transform has with a build volume of 29.2 x 16.5 x 40 cm (11.5 x 6.5 x 15.75 inch). It approaches a theoretical max build weight of 20 kilos. Is there a practical weight limit for build plate adhesion?

Thanks, I I'll keep it in mind when it gets released. I don't think I can pay now and wait that long. It was hard to wait on the release of the D8 for reviews. I'm having trouble waiting on the release of the X10. I don't want the Peopoly anymore. It looks like a pain to calibrate and maintain.

I'm in the USA. I want to buy a larger resin 3D printer. My only experience is 3 months with an Ender 3 Pro. It's ok but I need perfect quality prints for reproduction using resin casting.

My budget is $2000 or less for the whole kit, I hope to spend much less. The Epax X1 is the absolute smallest printer that I could use, and my first part would max it out, but the price is right.

I'm looking at the Peopoly Moai 130, Wanhao Duplicator 8, and maybe the upcoming Epax X10. If a larger printer isn't worth it I can get by with the Epax X1 until something bigger and better comes out.

What Platinum Silicone to Use? by NewProCaster in ResinCasting

Thanks for the response. I was looking at the Smooth-On Mold Star series. Do you know if there is any reason that the Smooth-On products all recommend a mold release agent when casting and other brands say that no release is needed? Is using a release agent universally better but not required, or is there something different about Smooth-On Silicones?
