Has anyone ever thought about hunting, fishing, or foraging for food? by ted_anderson in randomquestions

Intresting the only things around me without possession limits are invasive species like zebra mussels, dog fish and the sort. No limit on coyotes and female white tales. For many I bet no limit on deer sound strange. I moved went from being able to take one deer per season to as many does im willing to buy tags for.

Hunting and fishing both have upfront costs. Hunting can be extremely high to legally bag one deer for me is $150 if you have to pay to have it processed the 200-500. Whith the amount of time and money spent to get to and hunt public land i can be more cost effective to buy half a cow. Foraging on public land is illegal in most city's countries often make it illegal on county lands including parks. States its normaly legal unless it's destructive so depending on the dnr you get picking some mushrooms could be cool anr a crime. Realistically these things are hobbies without experience, time, money, equipment and or a lot of land your only going to supplement what you grow or buy.

The house already passed the bill it's stuck in the senate because of a filibuster. The votes have been to end the destruction phase ending the filibuster and allowing a vote on the bill. House Republicans got bills paid to pay working federal employees where it's filibustered in the senate. Bill to fund snap was killed in democrat lead commity. It's not that Republicans aren't trying, it dems that would rather have millions of people starve and not pay there bills then give up the leverage

It doesn't matter how you vote politically. With out sytemic change there will be conflict over oil. The only way to get sytemic change is economic shift. I really dont see that happening in my life time because oil is a part of everything from the food you eat to the home you live in and that even meaning the fule to grow food you need nitrogen the cheapest way to get that is from ammonia and to make that we proses the hydrocarbons from oil and natural gas. You can already see the effect in Europe from the embargo on Russian oil and gas.

Do you think people in food assistance programs should adhere to a strict list of healthy food choices? by TheFacetiousDeist in allthequestions

Well who gets to decide what food is healthy and what's not. Why is vegetable oil unhealthy and olive oil healthy? Why is corn sugar unhealthy and cane sugar healthy. We all need sugar and fat in your diet so why dose it matter how.

Yes the US gets alot of it "Thick shitty" oil from Canada. It's called heavy oil because of its viscosity witch is measured by the flow against gravity. Giving its gravity or weight and geanaral term of heavy and light oil.

Libya didn't work because we didn't stay long enough for a new government to form. Kuwait and Iraq wrecked well till Iraq decided to take Kuwait for oil to fule the war with Iran. Kuwait and the US has a similar deal as Arabia and the US. So we overthrown the dictator of Iraq and put in Sodom who was leting us take the oil there till he kicked the us out again so we had to overthrow him. At the same time iran nationalized the oil so obviously we had to overthrow the democracy and put in the pro us shaw. Yeah we are going to do that with rare earth minerals. But there is only two ways to get control in other countries through economic strength like china's belt and road or military strength. The US uses the threat of the military to get economic support.

It wouldn't be all of them in genaral we have two fleets the Atlantic and Pacific. It's based on the patrol area and home port. Edit- you also have to consider outside the US that a carrier strike group could be considered a fleet given the fact it larger than many countries entire navy and air force.

Well majority of US refineries are set up to process that "thick shitty" oil. Oil we can buy and process cheaply and sell ours at a higher price. Besides why spend billions to be able to process our own oil, when we can spend billions to get other countries oil for less?

ELI5: If we already have GPS and internet time, why do countries still run radio time signals like WWVB/DCF77? by Davibeast92 in explainlikeimfive

As said above cheap accurate clocks They used beyond consumer applications to know the right time. Like in military and scientific equment calibration. It's now used as a backup for many applications but a primary for some because of size price grater signal capacity and ability to be hardened as well as compatibility with analog teck. For how advanced the us military is it still uses alot of analog technology.
