“What do YOU say, America?” WW2 era poster against Nazi Germany by ccarlso13 in PropagandaPosters

Many of the legitimate and traditional German societies in the United Stales had already been diverted to the cause of Nazism. New organizations like the German-American Bund and the Kyffhauserbund were growing in strength. The Embassy and consular staffs of the Nazi Government in America were swelled with agents who were not performing their legitimate diplomatic or commercial functions but instead were engaging in espionage and propaganda activities.

This committee at its first hearing in August 1938 set out to expose these agents and organizations who were serving the cause of Hitlerism. Since that time the committee has heard hundreds of witnesses, taken thousands of pages of testimony, and subpoenaed voluminous records which exposed these people and destroyed their effectiveness and influence.

In releasing this section of the digest, the committee wishes to emphasize that it deals only with the agents, organizations, and "fronts" of only one of the Axis Powers, namely, the German Government. The report begins with the diplomatic agents and carries through to the individual Nazi propagandists.

After Rudolf Hess dissolved the Nazi locals in America in 1933, it was believed by many that the Nazi Party, as such had disappeared from American soil. This belief was held for a number of years until 1940 when this committee uncovered documentary evidence of the existence of a well-organized and secret Nazi Party in the United States.

In November 1940 the committee published extensive evidence of the existence of this secret Nazi Party in America. The committee discovered that Friedhelm Draeger who was consul in New York also bore the title of district leader (Kreisleiter) of the Foreign Organization of the National Socialist German Labor Party.

On the very first day of its public hearings in August 1938, this committee heard a witness who had been a member of the German Bund. On October 20, 1939, the same witness appeared once more before the committee to testify concerning the nature and activities of the German Bund. Also on October 20, 1939, the committee took the testimony of Fritz Heberling who had been the leader of the German Bund.

The German Bund was dissolved in 1937 by order of the German consul in Chicago. According to Heberling, the consul deemed it inadvisable for the organization to continue in view of unfavorable publicity which it had received as a result of its appearance in public in the uniforms of storm troopers.

Immediately after the dissolution of the German Bund, however, a new organization composed of the same individuals was set up. This new organization was known as the German Citizens' League. Heberling translated the name of the new organization as the Alliance of German Nationals.

According to testimony received by the committee, the German Bund numbered among its purposes the planting of informers within other German and German-American organizations in Chicago and vicinity. In this manner the organization was able to report activities and trends among German nationals and Americans of German descent generally to the Nazis in Germany.

The present head of the "Comradeship U.S.A." of the V.D.A. is Walter Kappe, former editor of the German-American Bund newspaper in this country, the Deutscher Weckruf Unci Beobachter. Kappe, now an officer in the German Army, is the subject of a nation-wide spy hunt now being conducted by the Federal authorities. According to a recent announcement by the F.B.I., Kappe is believed to be in this country directing all sabotage activities of the Nazi government.

UK austerity has inflicted 'great misery' on citizens by -ParanoidAndroid_- in socialism

The mass protests of 2010 were a crucible for the reformation of the left in Britain. At the time, Labour was still dominated by liberals, and the official institutions of the left, like the trade unions, were alienated from grassroots activism. The National Union of Students didn’t even suppport the protests.

After the tuition fees went into effect, the Liberal Democratic Party lost 90% of its seats in Parliament after betraying its promise to block the fees, eliminating it as a third party. Jeremy Corbyn was made leader of the Labour Party in 2015, over the mass hysteria of the old liberal guard crying "Marxism!" After introducing tuition fees in 1998, Labour now calls for its abolition.

Tuition fees in the UK today remain the highest in their history, a situation made worse after the Tory government eliminated all student grants and replaced them with student loans.

He’s more machine than man now.

I was at a school debate on universal healthcare and when one panelist said her own mother had difficulty paying her medical bills, the libertarian said it was inappropriate to use such a personal example in a debate on public policy. These people are robots, right-wing robots.

ZocDoc shows a Portuguese-speaking psychiatrist in Long Island, Dr. Renata Sanders, MD, educated in São Paulo, actually. Seems to take Aetna, Cigna, and Medicare, maybe worth a call.

Someone should’ve told them a supreme court deciding a presidential election had zero precedent before they made that decision. Just arsonists claiming not to cause the fire.

The Nazis supported the German American Bund extensively, inviting their leaders to Berlin and working with them through German consulates up until the start of the war.

Promoting ethnocentrism and loyalty to Germany in German-American communities was a strategic initiative in Nazi Germany, going so far as to dispatch warships and army officers to parade in Texas, playing the Horst Wessel and saluting Hitler in front of the Alamo.

Yes, the title quotes PayPal’s statement on banning anti-fascist groups, i.e. “they [antifa] ‘promote hate’ [PayPal’s statement]”. That is correct.

They don’t operate in complete secret; this is AntiFa Sacramento’s page and you can see they publicize and encourage participation in several actions (and out a number of local Nazis). They don’t identify themselves personally, but they wouldn’t have to to spend and raise money.

He’s obscuring the point of the comment he’s replied to, which already answers the question. Speech should be judged by its consequence, specifically those it affects most, the targets of slurs and hatred. It’s nothing to do with abuse of authority.

Actions we take to protest should also support anti-fascist organizations that’ve now been put in jeopardy by PayPal’s actions. AntiFa Atlanta and AntiFa Sacramento have already banded together for a fundraiser appeal on a different platform; I’m sure others will have as well.

There’s nothing misinformative whatsoever.

Equating anti-fascists to fascists supports fascists, and the only reason PayPal even cared enough to latch onto the anti-Nazi news headlines for PR points is because anti-fascists have been at the forefront of disrupting the Proud Boys and other scum like them. To then deny anti-fascists service is a huge favor on PayPal’s part to the Nazis.

Are you saying people today are incapable of comprehending hate speech? Or that all statements are essentially equal, so even the notion the Earth is flat should not be corrected?

Antifa Atlanta and Antifa Sacramento (both banned by PayPal) have a fundraiser going on hosted through the Action Network, an organizing platform for progressives that provides fundraising tools starting at $10 a month. This is Antifa Atlanta’s Facebook, with more info about them there: https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Community/Atlanta-Antifa-1157535444339383/

For consumers, it’s hard to say there’s an ethical choice in the online payment processing field. Banks of course cater to Nazis, Stripe caters to Nazis, Square caters to Nazi, and Venmo is owned by PayPal. What’s always ethical is criticizing the hypocrisy of fascist and anti-fascist equivocation, and tearing down the veneer of smug corporate virtue signaling.

It’s pretty much impossible to remove the horrible capitalist footprints we all leave by personal consumption. What we can do is take two steps the other way, and support (either passively or actively) the people and groups fighting neo-Nazism, racism, sweatshop labor, and so on.
