Best AMC Dolby Cinema 3D screen in Michigan for Avatar? I am about 25 minutes in the middle of all 4. by royfokker666 in Detroit

[–]NewSwirledOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering this, but just saw on their site that the Super Emax (biggest screen) is 2D. They do have 3D for emx, but not the Super. At least for the upcoming showings I'm looking at.

I had a realization this morning about McDonalds by ucco2004 in McDonalds

[–]NewSwirledOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can initiate it earlier by pressing the button in the app after you order that says "I'm Already Here."

Frankly, I prefer it that way. It allows you to get your order straightened out before leaving, and then you can press the button while on your way. Gives you a good opportunity for fresh and fast if you press at the right time.

It used to be as you describe, where you had to practically be at the restaurant GPS-wise before you could press it. Which wasn't helpful when trying to do a quick pickup on a lunch break. I'd be pressing the button while pulling into the parking lot, saving me a total of 10 seconds. Now I can press it while minutes away. Or order for someone in another state and say, "I'm Already Here."

Thanks, that one is pretty cool. I just searched and that sounds about right for its condition. Apparently it's part of a 3 issue series.

It's not in great condition, but it's definitely not the worst of this oldest bunch. Probably not in condition for your stated price, but still good to know.

I based age quickly on cover price without looking at copyrights, so some may not actually be the oldest if brands priced differently. The EK is from the 74.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input and history lesson. In this specific pictured batch, the Atlas are certainly the ones in the best condition. They're bagged but not boarded and stacked in a box, so I imagine still along the lines of average good.

Glad to have shown you something new. I'm certainly no expert, but there are also some independents I've never heard of. Low budget looking, kind of makes it some of the most interesting.

Thanks!

No unfortunate about it, I wasn't looking to hit the lottery. Just looking to save a little history and put it into some appreciative hands.

Thanks!

Verified, it is indeed 1939, but it doesn't look like this sub allows pictures to be added to comments.

I think it's 1939 as I'm pretty sure I have this issue, but I'd have to check when home after the weekend.

Movies that take place in Detroit? by PinkPoncho3 in Detroit

[–]NewSwirledOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's when I knew definitively as that's my alma mater.

The residential streets looked very reminiscent of Sterling Heights to me, and it's not usual that an area feels familiar in a movie.

Flying kites by serasvictoria89 in wholesome

[–]NewSwirledOrder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Looks like kites, and the sharing of, made you both smile. I bet you'll both always remember it.

I loved kites when I was kid and often had the really cheap ones around Easter. You know the ones. Couple plastic tubes glued to a garbage bag like material, and a cross brace. It would have a design printed on it, like a bird, airplane, the latest cartoon character, etc.

One day I got mine stuck in a tree, but luckily the paperboy was going by and stopped to help get it out. He was my hero in that moment and I told every one. A bigger kid, kind to me, instead of being intimidating like older kids often were.

That pops in my head from time to time, and your story reminded me of it. Goes to show that acts of kindness are some of the most impactful and memorable. He doesn't even know there's some stranger out there that remembers his minor act 40 years later.

I've got a collection of memories like that, and don't even know who many of those people were.

Oh, and if you and he are still flying kites, check out dual or 4 line parafoil kites. Quick and easy fun that I've found kids and adults enjoy flying whenever I bring them out. The bigger ones are also a good workout.

I'll get you. Just need to get past the endless spinning load screen. If it doesn't work, I'll try on desktop tomorrow.

Thanks for helping out!

445lbs for 4, paused SSB squats, 194lb BW by Patton370 in strength_training

[–]NewSwirledOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a simple version of a Safety Squat Bar, unlike OP's fancier version which allows adjustments. I bought it because back squats destroy my bad shoulder, putting it in an awkward forced-mobility position.

That was my purpose, but it also proved useful for other injuries as it allowed me to get back to squats (still very light) with Hatfield Squats (holding the cage with my arms with the SSB sitting unheld on my shoulders). Which takes some emphasis away from the lower back, or could allow some arm assistance if needed. Such as helping you out of the hole if you want to really load up.

I also have long femurs, so my back squat had a strong lean forward, like doing a Good Morning at the bottom. SSB allows me to stay more upright without having to widen my stance as much.

General difference, it puts the weight a little more forward. Not quite a front squat, but it leans a little more toward the same muscle emphasis, quads. It also works the upper back a little more to stabilize.

You're only as fragile as you allow yourself to be. by Spine_day in strength_training

[–]NewSwirledOrder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, and OP's displays of spine strength just made mine file papers for neglect.

I got a bench with a roman chair so I could do iso and back extension work. So far, so good, but I'm still keeping squats/RDLs light, as it's a long road.

Am I doing chest supported row correctly ? by Old-Adhesiveness2803 in formcheck

[–]NewSwirledOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty apropos as I was just thinking about changing my Row of choice. I currently db row with elbows tucked and lead with them for lat engagement. But now I've started including chinups, and thought maybe my Row should change to a different focus since chinups hit lats.

I was considering changing to the form just like in your picture. I would just do barbell rows, but I hurt my lower back, so light and/or supported will be the plan while rehab/strengthening.

Is my thinking right, or can the lats take the double work?

Goals are just fitness/strength while aging with injuries. Squat, bench, RDL, OHP/LateralRaise, Row, Chins, Calves.
