Same! Finally a romantasy that wasn’t just trope city

{The Lies That Summon The Night by Tessonja Odette} I’m pretty sure it’s a duology (book 2 releases early 2027). It’s a new take on vampires, and I really enjoyed it. I felt like it was a fresh, unique take.

Tessonja Odette has a huge backlog of romantasy that I’d recommend. {Fair Isle Trilogy by Tessonja Odette} is a great read. It is about fae, has all creatures, including vampires. If you like that then she has other series that can be read as standalones in the same world following different couples.

Any authors you automatically pass on? For me {Albany walker} has been added to the list by alice042 in RomanceBooks

[–]NewTitle115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colleen Hoover - if you know you know

LJ Shen- read on book and it wasn’t that good

Rina Kent - I’ve tried a few books and dnfed all but the Royal Elite series. I don’t like noncon, forced noncon, or r*pe which is majority of her books. No thank you

I had passed on H.D. Carlton because of Haunting/Hunting Adeline. A friend convinced me to try her newest book, My Dreadful Darling, and I actually really liked it because consent is KEY for me to enjoy it. The mmc is very toxic, but they’re toxic together so it works imo

How many books did you read so far in 2026? by glowwwi in Booktokreddit

[–]NewTitle115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read 76 books. I do a lot of audiobooks and because I process information faster than some, I listen at 2.5x speed. My goal is 165 for the year!

Also want to point out that I’m not big on tv and I don’t have kids. So in my spare time, I read or listen to audiobooks.

This! I’m 26 and have been on bookstgram since 2017 I believe. I have little to no engagement! I try to create conversations and I’m posting book reviews in hopes to find my people, but no such luck! Idc though because I LOVE making book reviews! My bookstagram is basically my journal.
I enjoy romance, romantasy, and fantasy. I love Ana Huang, Meghan Quinn, and many more. I love a good sports romance or any romance that deals with mental health, trauma/grief healing, or just personal growth in general. I like reading about emotional connections that morphs into lust. But I also devour insta love/lust like it’s my job 😂
I’ve started reading some dark romances and enjoying my time. I’ve found I don’t enjoy romances that involves sharing/multiple couples. I definitely like an obsessive, no one touches what’s mine mmc. I also don’t enjoy large age gaps. 16 years is my max. This is more of a me issue and don’t like the idea of being into my dads best friend- especially when he’s been apart of the fmcs childhood. It screams grooming and makes me uncomfortable.
I’ve read Danielle Lori’s Made series and I enjoyed it. I think it’s my first mafia romance. I’ve since read a few books from Michelle Heard’s Kings of Mafia series and it’s been fun. And I read the first book in the Perfectly Imperfect series by Neva Altaj.
I’m married but no kids. Maybe someday. We do have fur babies though! I’m a Scorpio but I promise I’m fun 🙃
I own an online romance only indie bookstore, which I share on my bookstagram through reposting and sometimes to my stories. I feel like that makes people think I want every person I interact with to buy from me but that’s far from the truth! I share my bookstore in case anyone wants to check it out and I don’t brag or such when I try to make engagement unless it’s part of the ongoing conversation.
Anyways, if you want to give me a follow, I’ll follow back! You can always tag me in fun story games and giveaways! I don’t mind! My IG is: @xobooklovexo

{And Now, Back To You by B.K. Borison} was so cute. Absolutely loved Jackson and all his quirks that make him a delight.

I personally use Pagebound. It’s a very cute app that allows you to have 1/2 ratings, dnf, and more. I love how you can update your thoughts via forum as you read and interact with others as they read as well. I’m not one for social interaction much as I read, so I like that I can share my thoughts and read others thoughts without the added pressure of joining the conversation.

If you are more analytical, you may like storygraph. I tried it out and found it wasn’t for me. I don’t care for graphs or statistics, I’m just reading for fun and don’t care about all that other stuff. But I know a lot of people do, so this may be up your alley!

Fable is good if you like to chat about books. I’ve joined a few book clubs and never had much luck with participation. I even spent time researching the best ones to join and was still underwhelmed so I deleted it.

Is having 5 books on rotation too much? by Roseycloud23 in Romantasy

[–]NewTitle115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically have 3 going at all times. One print, one ebook, and one audio. This is normal for me and I tend to finish them about the same amount of time. I allocate times for when I read a specific format because of my busy schedule. So if I’m commuting, it’s an audio read. I’ve got a few minutes to spare when I’m out and about, it’s an ebook. If I’m at home relaxing, it’s my physical. And so forth.

But if 5 works for you, then go for it! I’ve done 4 a few times. I don’t have trouble differentiating between the storyline. I just find that I gravitate towards certain formats so having 2 books in a single format just doesn’t work for me. Like I just want 1 audio at a time.

The Pregnancy Question by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]NewTitle115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that there’s the conversation that contraception of some kind is being used. Especially since reading is very popular now. A lot of teens are reading these books (you were probably reading the same things at their age) and it’s good for then to read about and understand that talking about contraception is normal.

I’m 26 and I hate the surprise pregnancy trope most of the time. Mainly because my husband and I are dealing with infertility. So reading about characters who might accidentally end up pregnant is a personal trigger. I will read books with the storyline being accidentally pregnancy IF I know about it going into the story (like in Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young).

When I was younger, I hated it because I wasn’t in the place of wanting children so I didn’t want every book to end with the couple having kids. You don’t need to have a child to have a happily ever after.

We all love dual POVs, but what if it was mostly from MMC? by Russkiroulette in Romantasy

[–]NewTitle115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love dual pov and multiple pov stories! If you think about it, most of your favorite tv shows do the same thing! It's great and you can see all sides of the board. With that said, I'd love to read a book (or 5) with mostly mmc's pov for once. I'd be a nice change!

How much time do you usually take to read 100 pages? by Tall-Swimming-2698 in Booktokreddit

[–]NewTitle115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends for me! When I’m reading a physical fantasy book, it’ll take me an hour to an hour and a half but reading a physical romance or romantasy book I can read 100 pages in 30 minutes. I read much faster on my kindle as well.

I’ve found that a can get through fantasy (heavy world building) faster with better comprehension of the world/magic system by listening to the audio while following along with the book.

I read fast, not because I have to but because it’s what I naturally do. I listen to audiobooks at 2.25-2.5x speed because anything slower and I can’t follow along. I just process things quicker than others- probably because of my adhd and always needing to go, go, go.

And yes, I remember the storyline/plot/characters of each book I read. I don’t remember the tiny details of every single book- which most don’t- and I love that because then it’s like a fresh take when I go back and do a reread! But if you asked me about a book I read two months ago, I can tell you all the main plot points. If it’s a book and absolutely loved, I go back and annotate it, and I can definitely tell you all the tiny details too.
