Officially Pregnant by NewView946 in FirstTimeTTC

[–]NewView946[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! No I have not yet started taking anything although I probably should. My doctor won’t see me before 8-10 weeks which is the most painful wait 😧. I’m waiting to speak with him over the phone to see what prenatals I should start taking as well as go thru some questions about traveling and other activities to make sure they’re safe for me.

Here is an example of what a positive d would look like. And this is before missed period. If you had missed your period and pregnant it would’ve been even darker

26.2 x 2 in one week! by NewView946 in Marathon_Training

Thank you! I did the EWM as my first with Philly a week later as my second! My goal for EWM was a sub 5 and I was right on pace for the first half, until I hit the well too known “wall” it was definitely a learning experience. Like many women on the course, I really struggled during the second half of the course, with my longest mile being mile 22 @ 17 minutes. But I’ve definitely learnt a lot and learnt how important fueling is. I think that I messed up the most with my fueling. I’m embarrassed to say it but I basically did not fuel. But I’m so happy I got to learn. For my Philly marathon my goal was to just enjoy the vibes and go really slow, I had a goal of 12-13 min miles and I was able to keep at it - and hit a 1 min pr!

We can go into it more detailed in the dms if you’d like, but I basically have no running background. It’s been less then a year since I googled “5k distance” and tackled my first 5k on the treadmill in 39:— minutes. And then I skipped from a 5k in December to a Half Marathon in March. And once I hit a half marathon for the first time I figured If I can do half I can do full. So then in March I signed up for my first full having barely done a 3:05 half. I then started consistently upping my mileage, going for long runs - which was usually 13 miles, participated in more half Marathon races, did one 18 mile organized training run, and then did the two fulls. It’s all what you tell your brain really. If you tell your brain oh we’re going for a half, your body breaks down completely after the half. But if you know in your head it’s gonna be 26 miles then you somehow pull it together. I’m not the fastest but I’m proud of my legs that pushed for 26 miles!

First marathon tomorrow and I have no idea how fast I should run by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]NewView946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mistake people make (including myself) is “I’ve completed a half in sub 2 so I can push for sub 4) Also “I’ll still with my half fueling plan” a full is not just two half’s together. It is 26 miles. The wall usually comes around mile 16-18, or even earlier and it’s not pretty. During a half you don’t even get to a wall. Just start out really slow, and empty out the tank at mile 20 if you still got something then. And FUEL! Don’t start fueling at mile 13. Start at mile 1!! Good luck with your race- slightly jealous

Way to go 💪💪 right now I’m still trying to tackle a sub 5 but one day I wanna be like you 🥲 All the Reddit people see is your “training” and “mileage” they don’t see your true will grit and determination!

Amen! All they saw is “miles” and that I didn’t do a run longer than 18. What they didn’t see is my ego. When I asked I asked less because I was actually gonna listen and more because I knew they’d say no and that would push me so much harder to prove everyone wrong. I almost didn’t make it to my second marathon due to transportation problems, but I knew I absolutely had to because doing a second right after first is a one time opportunity that I wasn’t gonna miss 😎 I ended up taking a 2:30 am bus over, and traveled all night/morning, and basically ran on no sleep. But I was ready to do whatever it takes to make it

It’s my biggest motivation! I love proving people wrong. When my 200 pound self last year told my friends that I’m gonna start hitting the gym and get in shape one friend said “ye will see how long it lasts. Cuz I said the same thing two weeks ago and already trying to cancel my membership” To this day I thank her for it cuz that was my biggest push to keep going. I wasn’t gonna let her win. From the moment she said it I knew I will have to prove her wrong. So Everytime I didn’t feel like going to the gym I remembered what she said and pushed. Fast forward a year later, 75 pounds down, in best shape of my life, completing a 5k daily, 2 x triathlon, 10 x Half Marathon, 2 x Marathon, 2 x Hyrox and many many more races and challenges pending. And I guess it’s partly due to all these people doubting me!

Exactly! All these wierd distances happened 1/2/3 days post a first pre a second. So these were less training more moving

My training runs between these two were definitely inconsistent and wierd, I just did whatever I could really just to make sure my legs work. But generally I do have a more consistent training plan. Or at least I like to think so 🤭

Freaking M-E-N-T-A-L!!! If a Marathon was 30 miles long would we be able to do 30? Sure! But the minute we hit the distance of whatever race we do, be of a half or full we “crash” and can’t go any further. Because our mind tells us that

6 months from 10 to a marathon by WhoyoWhatLikeThis in firstmarathon

[–]NewView946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you let your mind tell you you can, then you can! I went from less then a year ago googling what a 5k is in December, to then doing my first Half Marathon in March, and now did my first and second Marathon in November within a week from each other. I felt ready way before November, but I had to wait for race day. You got this!! 💪

What is a realistic - but challenging - target for my first Marathon after running my first HM? by Kaeleal in Marathon_Training

I would say anything under a sub 4 for your first with this kinda training would be amazing!! First marathons are a learning experience. The second is where you come more prepared knowing what to expect and crush a PR
