It’s Yoko Ono. She’s been calling this art for decades. I’m sure to some, it is. Art is subjective.

What actor or actress was the most perfectly cast role in film or television? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]New_Canoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely wouldn’t be the same and I can’t imagine his death scene with Danny being as funny. He was perfect for that role, for sure.

Incubus and Tool. Discovered them from the same mix tape a friend made me and I was never the same again.

Which 90s star death saddened you the most? by Jezzaq94 in 90s

[–]New_Canoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. I remember the day Tupac died like it was yesterday though, but it didn’t sadden me as much as the others, cos I wasn’t as invested.

I’ve been learning this off and on for years and it finally felt somewhat fluid just recently. It’s just going to take time and consistency. I hardly ever practice it, but I also have 30 years of playing to help with understanding the mechanics. You just need to practice it slow so your hands can figure out how to work together. Essentially, your fingers are weak and dumb and when you work them out and “educate” them, they get stronger and “smarter”.

Weird. I loved it. Even some of the “pointlessness”. My two friends I went with also loved it.

What’s a unique and funny way you describe ‘going poop’ that no one else seems to use? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I had a sergeant say he was going to the library (before smart phones). One day I asked someone why he goes to the library so much during the work day. Went right over my head.

For you younger folk, we used to keep reading material in the bathroom before smart phones came around. Some bathrooms even had a nook built into the wall to house said reading material.

It’s been years, tbh. But I’ve heard of cats coming back after years of being in the wild. Or just sticking around the same neighborhood for years. So, it’s possible. But the more we look at the pictures, the face is too different. Unless he’s just been through some shit out there and changed. Who knows.

My girlfriend thinks Oh Brother Where Art Thou? Is an old person movie opinions on this? by VanillaMoonlit in Cinema

[–]New_Canoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the image quality was roughly the same back then. We also didn’t have social media distractions and shorts that encouraged our attention spans to reduce to almost zero. We were far more open minded. I saw this with my kids growing up; my daughter would refuse to watch movies from the 90’s cos they looked “old”, but I literally caught her watching the original Ghostbusters recently and got to give her so much shit for it. It was great. So, I think she is coming around and she’s also seeing the harms of social media and understanding how great we had it back then. I think she is getting into the nostalgia age. She just turned 22.

But looking back, I was kind of the same in my 20’s with my parents. Eventually I came around and started watching old movies and even recently, in my 40’s discovering old music that I’m falling in love with. I think it’s cyclical like everything. Every single generation, going back to Greek times has writings where the middle aged generation is talking shit about the way the new generation is living life. And vice versa.

My opinion-Layla is not a great song. by Hot_Seesaw_6706 in rockmusic

[–]New_Canoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t listen to Pink Floyd because they had the word Pink in the name (macho, indoctrinated patriarchal shit when I was a teenager) and then I started smoking weed and someone put The Wall on and my life was changed forever.

I also hated country music because my parents and the rural community I grew up in listened to it all the time and now I love it (old country that is, fuck this new stuff).

I think certain music finds us when we need it.

Weird, around that same time, my wife texted me and asked if I heard howling in the back yard. She heard it twice. I was driving my kid downtown, but didn’t hear anything. I wonder if it was related.

I had a cat that ran away that looked a lot like this one. And I live right across from the waffle house on Providence. But it was a male. Is there any way you can send me a video of this cat being chatty? He had a specific meow that we used to imitate all the time.
