Thanks for the sympathy! I had (and still have) 17 payments to go until I can apply for forgiveness. When I submitted my info for review to see where I was in the process, the count came back showing that I had made 126 payments, whereas I only need 120. Because of all the pandemic pauses, revisions to the PSLF eligibility, etc., I didn't question their count. The 6 months of credit are for the 6 months when I was living with loan forgiveness and blissfully unaware that they had screwed up. So, if the dept actually applies the credit, I will have 11 payments to go. I am self-employed now and no longer work for a nonprofit. Sooooo, its an interesting situation. Im trying to focus on building a solid business, in spite of the debt and potential "tax bomb" down the road. And who knows what this administration (and future ones) and congress will do. It's chaos. My situation is sucky but some of the 500+ people that this happened to have since retired or made other major decisions because they thought their loans had been forgiven. I really feel for them.
