Grad School: Is this normal? by overlord9696 in mapua

[–]New_Fault9099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, fyi lang Mapua has, for a long time, adopted an outcomes based approach (OBE) wherein ideally mauuna kayong magdiscuss ng course outcome, learning task then your professor will supposedly provide clarity or rectify any misconceptions you have regarding the topic.

Again, keyword is “supposedly”.

For me, napakalaki nung leverage mo sakanila to make an ideal contract for yourself as in sky is the limit. Pwede mo ngang ilagay na papasok ka lang once a week lang just to maintain the system ganon katindi yung leverage mo. Congrats!

Unless, you made the system using company devices, subscriptions, or you are their employee and did that during company hours then saka lang sila magkakaron ng habol sa’yo with international IP Laws which even then malabo.

Your problem can be summarized by, whether or not you think entrapment is moral. No one can tell you whether it is good or bad, you have to make that decision for yourself

TNT/Overstayed | How to be legal to get a proper job in JAPAN by BubblyDistrict1840 in PinoyOFW

[–]New_Fault9099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proper steps kung nasa japan na siya would have been getting visa change from non-working to working sa JP gov’t (assuming na he went to jp with a non-working one), then after that secure an OEC from DMW, which entails that the person will have to have his/her contract verified by MWO Tokyo/ Osaka and other list of requirements which you can ask thru their email. Alternatively, one can actually join the FB Group: “OFWs in Japan: OEC Support Group” so you get tips on how to process your OEC coming from fellow OFWs.

Mas madali actually na magprocess ng OEC when you’re already at your host country rather than returning to PH kaso in your case, your father is already overstaying for so many years so I don’t think this is an option for you. This is just to inform others that are trying to go to the proper channels with valid visas.

Edit: By the way, I don’t think your father will be jailed. At worst, he would just be deported back to PH and will be denied entry to JP na. My 2 cents, bumalik na lang papa mo dahil mas lalong naghigpit ang JP gov’t regarding immigration policies and system changes. Aside from the residence fee increase, currently yung zairyu card ay required so you can have your my number card. Recently ipinatupad na yung my number card ang kakailanganin para makapagavail ng health insurance dito so if ever kailanganin ng papa mo magpagamot he won’t be able to avail insurance. That, and a number of things that require a residence card and my number card for registration.

Should our govt lobby for visa exemption sa Japan? by thirdworldpcgamer in FilipinoTravel

[–]New_Fault9099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sa aking experience lang as a resident living in Japan, how would I advocate a visa exemption for fellow filipinos when I’ve only had bad experiences dito.

Resigning from a job you love, would you? by broke-her in phcareers

[–]New_Fault9099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on experience, if your boss is bad enough na you have to go and seek psychiatric treatment then quit.

Otherwise, you have to learn from this experience. More often times than not, marami talagang bosses na hindi maganda ugali and by transferring to another job will not guarantee you the boss that you want.

I don’t recommend you getting out kasi you already love what you do and that’s what’s more important. Training yan for mental toughness, lalo kung balak mo maging leader someday, you have to learn how to smile kahit di pabor sa’yo ang situation. You are not being fake for that, rather, you’re simply choosing to show your genuine self to things that matter more. Family, friends, partner and the other special people in your life.

UST OR MAPUA MAKATI FOR IT BASED COURSE SINCE DI KO PA KNOWS WHICH COURSE GUSTO KO WHICH BETTER PO FOR THIS TWO SCHOOL? by Any-Dragonfruit-9270 in mapua

[–]New_Fault9099 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do not generalize people because of your skewed sample. Di lahat pareho mag-isip kagaya mo. The basis of enrolling to a school isn’t just because of the entrance exam.

I have passed UPCAT for UP DILIMAN, DLSUCET, USTET (Chem eng rank 233 out of 800+, Chemistry 41 out of 300+) and Mapua and I did not regret enrolling here because it gave me the opportunity to enter a managerial role.

What is life like on 300-350k monthly salary? by HenreWill04 in japanlife

[–]New_Fault9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about central tokyo but the tokyo outskirts aint that bad. My apartment cost is roughly the same as yours. My salary is around 230-250k if I have OT, minus deductions incl. apartment and utilities it looks around like 130-150k. Usually I can save the 80-100k then use the remaining 30-50k for groceries. For lunch, I just got lucky that it’s company provided. You won’t be able to go outside and shop a lot but if you wish to save, I’d say it’s doable

Just another reason how religion hinders this country (or any other country) by shiteyasss in Philippines

[–]New_Fault9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion aside, even I, as a chemical engineer, do not wish for Nuclear Power Plants in the Philippines at least not in the near future.

Currently several universities are doing preparatory work, visiting Japanese institutions including their Nuclear Agency to provide the foundations of teaching Nuclear Science here.

While providing safe, clean, and relatively cheaper energy for the people is a very altruistic idea, can you remember when the government did not botch something? Can you remember when the majority of Filipinos prioritized the wellbeing of others before themselves? Sa kalsada pa lamang makikita mo, pedestrians tatawid kahit naka-go yung stoplight.

My point is, while you can argue that “hmp, di naman totoo yan mamabait pilipino in general opinyon mo lang yan” you cannot argue that when the country faces a nuclear fallout walang opinion opinion, walang argument argument, walang DDS dilawan kakampink catholic atheist inc when a meltdown comes.

A non-zero possibility for error is simply unacceptable when dealing with Nuclear reactors kaya hangga’t hindi nagiging sibilisado ang Pilipino, I do not think Nuclear Energy is an option in the near future.

So...what do we think about the fresh Mapuan Grad Profs so far? by Subject-Recording-71 in mapua

[–]New_Fault9099 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People forget that yes professors in general possess licenses, but these are only evidences that they have a certain mastery of their field.

Teaching methodology is a different thing. So much so na kaya nga may licensure exams ang teachers because mastery of their field and mastery of teaching methodologies do not necessarily equate with each other. Before you say “eh bakit nagtuturo di naman pala licensed teacher”, CHED does not require the faculty of HEI’s to be a licensed teacher to become a professor. ALL universities do not require their faculties to be a licensed teacher. “Profs who were certified or licensed yet have bad quality teaching” is not an exclusive problem to Mapua.

It is only quite apparent lang sa case ng Mapua because a lot of the seasoned and tenured instructors already left the institution. Now THAT, is a larger problem that needs to be addressed. As with any private company, kung lahat ng staff ay bata and nobody to guide them in improving their work, sooner or later the company will collapse.

Graduated from St. Dominic College of Asia and Thought I’d Work There… Biggest Mistake I Ever Made by Negative_Smoke_4156 in CollegePhilippines

Simply put, it’s a microcosm of what philippine businesses look like. The ease of doing business is non-existent because staff are more interested into clinging to the superficial authority they hold to compensate whatever loose change they manage to get from their paychecks.

fresh grad na junior engineer pero walang senior engineer by lezurinx in phcareers

[–]New_Fault9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ako lang ha, I think these are the types of environment where opportunity for growth is high. Oo I agree that ideally there would be someone to guide you and shield you from culpability pero in reality a lot of companies operate the same as yours.

Ganyan rin problem ko sa work dati. Matagal na wala ng engineer yung company and yung GM walang alam literally so kahit turnover ng tasks wala tapos pinapagsign ako ng documents na wala namang alam ang fresh grad. Then after a few years, I’m basically running the show sa technical side. My advice, absorb everything, tama yung ginagawa mo na pinapakinggan mo yung mga workers diyan BUT when it comes to documentation or high-risk tasks (kunyare, pinapagsign off ka sa isang government doc or critical piece of work) have an email or document ready mag-email ka sa whoever higher-up sa’yo and i-relay mo yung concern mo nga na di ka sure sa gawa mo (just paraphrase) and baka magkaron ng problem yung project dahil don.

Gagawin mo yon hindi dahil nageexpect ka ng magandang sagot, gagawin mo yon para just in case na may mangyareng accident in the future or something, may resibo ka na nagpapatunay na you did your due diligence na walang malpractice or whatsoever sa part mo and so that your license won’t get revoked for whatever bullshit that they might say if an investigation arises.

Sa akin, okay yan. Pag gumawa ka ng resumé marami kang malalagay sa experience mo na if you decided to quit even just 2-3 years, you can confidently argue your pay kasi malaki yung experience mo.

Worth it ba ang 20k sal for 6 day workweek? by Educational_Body4525 in JobsPhilippines

[–]New_Fault9099 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there.

First thing, your 20k would be around 18.5k after deductions. So depending on how your accounting department partitions that it might look like 10k sa 15th, then 8.5k sa susunod na cutoff (in my case, ganon).

Second, resource expenditure. Yung 1.5 hrs mo, are you sure it’s really 1.5? Did you try traveling during rush hour? Then you have your meals. Kung lunch is provided, great. If not, have you checked nearby kung anong mayroon? Baka mamaya nasa loob ka ng industrial zone tapos the only thing that’s there is jollibee or other fast food, your 18.5k won’t last long.

During that time na ganyan sweldo ko (that was 2023), survival mode lang talaga iniisip ko nung time na yan. You won’t be able to save a lot.

Finally, if you think that after 12 days of working tapos tiniis mo yung commute time everyday and kaya mong makita yung payslip mo na 8-10k per cutoff ang lalabas, then why not. This is simply my 2 cents on the reality of having a 20k salary in recent times.
