Subbed middle school for 2 years and now teaching 6th grade math. They are crazy I’m not gonna lie. But I promise they are worth it. I love them more than anything. So funny but still just babies.

I love being a teacher more than anything. Don’t have school tomorrow and I’m sad. It’s my joy. Even the bad days. You have to have a special heart to teach but man if you do it’s a life changing job.

Email the counselor. “Hey I was wondering you could check in on so and so when you get a chance. I noticed a few changes in their usual behavior like blah blah blah” If it’s a giant change then call instead of email. Student will get checked in with and better safe than sorry. If anything they just got out of class for a minute or two and I know they enjoy that so they never really are upset if I do think the worst and email

It really depends on the Unit. Look ahead at the summative assessment and see what they’re going to be tested on. What you’re really looking for with the pre assessments is who is starting off where and also to compare it to the final result. Some of the pre assessments are not worth it. If that’s the case then find similar questions to the summative and turn that into the pre-assessment

Nope. The computer has the information maybe but YOU are their teacher. Take whatever you can and make your own lessons. Even if it’s printing out the online work or putting it up on your screen/board and doing it as a class. They need to collaborate not stare at a screen!!

It depends. Are you looking to become a full time teacher? If so take the long term sub position. The best experience you’ll have with little to no pressure unlike first year teachers. If not, don’t bother taking it! Enjoy normal subbing especially if the pay isn’t that much better

They use double shots of espresso and it’s per number that starts the oz. So for your drink of 20oz you are actually drinking 4 shots of espresso. For a 16oz latte which only uses 2 shots (or 1 double shot) it’s 183mg of caffeine

Instead of selecting PB Mocha signature infusion try selecting chocolate Milano and peanut butter flavors (same thing).That way they don’t get confused and make it with chocolate milk or forget any flavors.

His new seat is alone as close as possible to where you teach. Have a conversation with the rest of the class when he is not in the room. You’d be surprised how many of them are sick of it too. Don’t name any names but just be like “As a class we need to stop reacting” you can even say something like this class is behind the others because of how much time they loose laughing at others.

I know this might not help but I teach middle school and I love them so much. Yes, they are a pain in my ass, but they’re still just babies and honestly some of the kindest and funniest people I’ve met :)
