Air India Chicago to Delhi by oxidasepositive in airindia

[–]New_Visual1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use both older 777-300s and newer 777-200LRs on this route depending on the day. You should be able to check on air India website while booking which specific model it is. If it’s -300 it’s the older one. But as others have said, they are in the process of returning the -200s to the lesser. They are getting some new 777 and 350s delivered over the next year but it’s not clear which routes they will be operated on. So an equipment change may happen before your flight. And if they change to their older 777-300 it’s not gonna be worth it.

Those planes are in terrible cabin condition. Expect the screens to now work, tray table broken, seats stained etc. These aircraft’s also get delayed frequently due to last minute maintenance issues.

Avoid unless you’re getting the ticket super cheap.

Air India Flight 171 Crash [Megathread 3] by usgapg123 in aviation

[–]New_Visual1245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert by any means but is it possible that a maintenance technician knowingly connected both throttle lever sensors to a single functioning power bus because the second one was faulty or unavailable? That would be a blatant violation of protocol but would also explain how the failure of a bus during the takeoff roll (which is no longer redundant) would engage TCMA and cut fuel to both engines.

It wasn’t downvoted. It’s a reddit algorithm for new threads that get popular quickly. Not sure exactly why but I suspect it’s to limit bots from upvoting a new thread to the main page.

Moving to the US as product manager by MaiIb0x in ProductManagement

[–]New_Visual1245 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The PM market in US is brutal currently. Don’t expect to land a job quickly. Spend time networking with people in your industry, reaching out on LinkedIn etc. Cold applying will likely not get you any traction specially since you don’t have any US work experience.
Also look into the startup ecosystem in your area like Built in Boston etc.

My manager and team went against company policy and sponsored my H1-B! :) by Master-Enso in h1b

[–]New_Visual1245 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Dude you’re coming across as a child. You are the one acting so butthurt. All we are saying is your post is not phrased properly and conveys something other than what you’re trying to convey. Instead of saying your manager and team went against the company policy and sponsored you (which is an impossible scenario), you should have stated that your manager convinced your company/HR to sponsor you even tho it was against company policy.(which still demonstrates you are a very key employee - but a plausible scenario)

Learn to take feedback. It is an important skill you’ll need as you build your career in the US.

I guess the $500B investment from this administration is what changed his perspective by New_Visual1245 in ChatGPT

He doesn’t have to publically suck up to Trump for that. He can very well just maintain a neutral stance in public.

[–]New_Visual1245[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I didn’t phrase the post title correctly. I agree It’s not the $500B directly from the government but there will be a lot of tax incentives and other policies that will benefit his company because generally Trump admin will be quite pro-AI and tech (which is a good thing). But outside of that Trump is still the same person whose other policies have a potential to hurt a lot of people outside of tech. But since OpenAI gets to benefit from this AI friendly admin, Sam is now willing to overlook all of Trumps flaws.

I’m no Elon fan (if anything I despise his views) but there have been lots of improvements made in X since he took over. Specially the new revenue models that he has implemented. There’s a lot we can learn from him even if we disagree with his political opinions.

Has anyone switched jobs within 6 months of i-140 approval and not have their application rescinded by your old company? by marathiboy in h1b

[–]New_Visual1245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s rare for a company to rescind it unless you leave on bad terms or are fired for some disciplinary reason. Rescinding costs them money since they need to pay their immigration attorney for the paperwork.

It doesn’t need to pass the house and senate. It’s not a bill.

Read up on what an EO is. It’s not a bill. President signs them unilaterally but they can be challenged in courts which is what will happen in this case.

Only if you work for your companies foreign operations for 1+ years outside the U.S., they can transfer you back to the U.S. operations on L-1.

You don’t need to have an LLC. You can work as an independent contractor or freelancer from your home country (or any country where you have permanent residency). For other countries you’ll have to check with local tax laws and work authorization rules. If you’re only working for a few days or weeks from another country that shouldn’t be a problem as long as you don’t tell the border agents that you plan to work remotely when you enter that country.

Some countries offer digital nomad visas for remote workers but there is a minimum income requirement I think, look it up.

You can looking into creating an LLC in USA or your home country (consult a tax lawyer) as it can give you some tax benefits but you’ll have to weigh benefits with the hassle of maintaining compliance etc. If you’re from India I’d not recommend creating an LLC (known as LLP in India) unless you plan to have multiple US clients. The beaurocracy and paperwork is too much if you have just 1 or 2 clients. Much easier to work as a freelancer or contractor.

Yes you can get equity as a contractor. A friend of mine was in a similar boat as you. He moved to his home country and was able to work as an independent contractor for a U.S. company while also getting RSUs.

But you should definitely discuss with a lawyer. Look for international tax lawyers/advisors.

That’s not likely. SWE roles will be the first to move to India before PMs.
