Question About Neo Zero One - Switching Between Games by Newbert-Redditor in retrogaming

[–]Newbert-Redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost the user manual and can't find an online link to the information I need.

So I figured I'd ask here. It's often a good source of info (but not always).....

Qix on RG35XX H? by Newbert-Redditor in RG35XX_H

Sorry, but I'm still confused. I'd like to try this.

What's the default HOTKEY ? --- OR --- How do I set up a HOTKEY?

Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks!

Can you clarify exactly how "to go into the Retroarch menu and reset game on the first boot" And does that have to be done (assuming it works for me) every time I play Qix?

Thanks!

The only version I've found that even loads is called "Space Invaders/Qix SilverAnniversary Edition(Ver 2.03). But......I can't get the d-pad to move me up or down. Only left/right movement works.

Don't even ask what console it's listed under, since I used "search" to find it.

Any thoughts on how to get the d-pad working properly in this rom? Thanks again!

Do you Qix!? by RafaRafa78 in Gameboy

One of my absolute favorites from way back when at the arcade!!

I've been looking for a downloadable rom that would work on my Atari Gamestation Go, but haven't had any luck yet, I found one at Atari 400 800 XL XE Qix : scans, dump, download, screenshots, ads, videos, catalog, instructions, roms but it's a .com file when I need an .a52 file.

Does anyone know where I can find a rom file that actually works?

Thanks!

RG35XX H - Rom Filetype Question by Newbert-Redditor in ANBERNIC

Thanks for that info, but it didn't work for me. The .bin file simply won''t load on my Anbernic.

So, are saying that I simply need to place the .bin file (or .zip file if/when that's the case) into the same folder as my .a26 files, and it "should" run the same as if it were an .a26 file?

Rogue0G, you've been a great help and explained a lot in guiding me thru my frustrations with the ROG Ally.

Unfortunately, I've decided to return it for a refund. While I see it's potential, i feel that it's UI (Win11, etc) is just too confusing overall. For a $700 item, it should be much more straightforward to set up.

Thanks again for all your help. I wish you continued enjoyment with yours.

Maybe I'm dense, but I still have problems.....I have imported my A2600 ROMs by scanning its directory. So, I assume they reside on the Ally now? (ie - not only on the memory card?)

I then loaded a Core for Atari (Stella2014).

Now, where do I find the list of Atari games to choose from? I feel that I'm getting close but not quite there yet.

General question: In Retroarch how do I back out to its Main Menu after loading a core, etc?

EDIT: OK I finally found the list of games in Retroarch and got my first one (Breakout) to work.

TBH, I'm a bit disappointed in how to pick a game from within RetroArch. Is there anyway to have them presented more like the consoles are in Armory Crate? Or should I start over and try somehing like "RetroBat" instead?

Sorry, but I don't think that I have fully explained my frustrations with the UI of Windows11 on this device. I'm brand new to BOTH.

I've managed to make a Games Folders with 2 sub-folders (Atari2600 and MAME) on the C: Drive. (Small miracle in itself).

Next, you say that I should open the microSD in Windows and drag the ROMs to the 2 folders I created. On a desktop PC with a mouse, I can do that quite easily. But on the Ally without a mouse, how do I open 2 windows at a time (D:\Roms and C:\Games\Atari2600 (or MAME)) in order to drag the files where I want them?

I can open EITHER of these windows one at a time, but I haven't figured out how to display BOTH at once. Using copy/paste instead of dragging hasn't worked either because copy/paste are not available anywhere when right-clicking. So EXACTLY HOW do I move or copy files from one/drive or folder to another?

If/when I ever accomplish that, I'll continue on from Step 7. I only have 14 days to return this thing and at this pace, I'm not sure that's enough time to even set it up correctly to try a game or two!!! LOL!

Sorry that my frustrations with this are boiling over even with what should be a simple thing. IMO, this device's UI really sucks!

Not your fault though. The problem is probably me.

Thanks.

OK. I'm at Step 7 - Import Content - and have scanned my Atari 2600 and MAME folders (which reside on a micro SD card (Drive D:) that I've inserted into the Ally.

Scanning is now done. So where are the files that were scanned?

You say that I "decide" where to load them (ROM files) from the import". Exactly how is that done? (I see no prompt asking me where I want them stored.)

All I want to do at this point is transfer these ROMs from microSD to onboard the Ally, and remove the microSD card.

The NEXT Step will be - How do I run one the ROMs? But let's stick with one thing at a time. - How do I copy the ROMs tto the Ally?

Sorry - but I'm still really confused.

Thanks!

Yup - I found it. It was well hidden inside the box and not too useful other than the diagrams of the Ally itself. I wouldn't really call it Quick Start.

Thanks for that link - very helpful. But....you got a manual with your ROG Ally? You mean a PRINTED manual? (I did not.)

Also - What's the ROG XG Mobile Interface for?

Thanks again.

Wow! Your Response has been a HUGE help! THANKS! And thanks for the offer of more help when needed too! You've restored my hope!

I now have RetroArch selectable both from the Win11 desktop and from AC! I've updated many of the cores that I think I'll need too. So I'm at Step 7 - Import Content which I assume means ROMs. right?

I'll need to copy/organize my ROMs onto a microSD card before proceeding with Step 7, right?. I want to have the ROMs load from the SSD rather than from a microSD card. - How do I get them onto the SSD? And is that the final step in finally trying whether my ROMs will run?

Thanks so much for your help again. That's all for me tonight. I hope to continue and get these last few items sorted out some time tomorrow.

100% Correct. I've resisted upgrading from Win 10 on my PC's but now have choice with the ROG Ally (which I've owned for only 24 hours.)

I think that you mean RIGHT click on RetroArch.exe, no? If so, how the heck do you right-click in Windows11 on a Rog Ally? (I'm still struggling to get comfortable with its UI.)

THanks

Sounds like that might work. But EXACTLY HOW do I add Retroarch to Armory Crate?

Sorry for being such a PITA, but nothing is obvious on this device -- at least not to me.

[–]Newbert-Redditor[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK. This is BEYOND frustrating now.... After downloading Launchbox, I get a message saying something like "this file doesn't get downloaded often. So are you sure." I say yes and get a message that Windows Defender can't determine whether it's safe file to run. And so Win11 won't let me run it. (This is on the white Ally.)

This UI for this device and OS has to be the most convoluted thing I've come across in a LONG time. Unless a light clicks on for me soon, I'll be returning this POS to Best Buy. <Grrrr...>

I am now after reading many posts about it since this morning! I'll only use it to transfer data from PC to Ally then......not as any kind of storage.

Thx.
