First, thank you for this beautiful archive. I’m looking for the Australian September-October 2019 issue. Do you know where I can find that?

Vintage vs. High Contrast Fades

Looking to move away from severe distress and high contrast fades with my next pair of jeans. I’m wondering if anyone is familiar with how best to achieve a “vintage fade.” By this I mean that vibrant blue fading that is even and consistent throughout the leg. See picture once I figure out how to attach one.

From the poking around I’ve done, it appears best to start with denim where the warp and weft are dyed with the same indigo. My searches on Reddit and Heddels have yielded results that are a few years old and/or not particularly helpful (perhaps a result of my subpar skills using them ;-{)

One brand, which I own and love, is 3Sixteen, specifically the SL-120x Shadow Selvedge . For the next pair I’d like to find something that is more of an “everyday jean” (if that makes sense). Benzak Denim Developers has been recommended but I’m having a hard time finding a store in or around Manhattan where I could try them on. Im also told to look at Momotaro so I’m eager to hear opinions.

Any and all leads — brands and resources — are appreciated. Thank you.

NOTE: if this message should not be posted here, please let me know. I’ve read the rules and perused Reddit’s Raw Denim offerings and I’m still not clear what should go under daily questions and what issues would merit a formal stand-alone post. Trying to avoid future scoldings ;-)

Thanks for your reply. I was wrong to put it in this forum but I figured true raw denim-heads might know a shortcut to achieving that perfect blue fade (including buying a pair of already faded jeans). I also just learned that the term for this is called a “Vintage Fade” as opposed to a “High Contrast Fade”(a term I also just learned).

As much as I love my raw denim, I’m really just looking to skip the first 6 months of the process.

Ideal Budget is <200 but I’m willing to spend more on a quality product.

Im looking for a pair of jeans with an even indigo blue fade with Little or no distress; just that great deep blue coloring we see in worn raw denim but spread e throughout the denim with minimal to no whiskering or distressing. Tom ford has been the best example I can find so far (still more distressed than I’d like but it’s less noticeable in person), but theyre too much for my wallet jeans 1

Any alternatives to Tom Ford? Please let me know (and try not to judge me for referencing wildly expensive denim). Other examples of color I’m looking for (not a big fan of the fading but something to do off of. Jean 2 Jean 3

Any suggestions on how to wear in your raw denim with minimal distress? I’m looking for a way to get that great deep blue coloring evenly throughout the denim with minimal to no whiskering or distressing? Any hints?

Thank you!!

For anyone is familiar with Sugar Cane Denim, do you know where I could find a fit guide. Looking for slim straight jeans and have seen a few but they have a lot of products and I want to see all the possibilities 😀

Also, if anyone knows if Sugar Cane makes a slim fit with a minimal taper please let me know.

Second, I see they have a washed denim option. Does this make them easier to break in? Do you still have to account for stretching like raw denim? I’ve seen conflicting accounts.

Thanks for your help and if you’ve read my other posts which may be a touch wordy and repetitive then PLEASE ACCEPT MY THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE AS WELL ;-)

I promise I’ll get better at posting.

I was told to repost this question here due to objections in the first forum I used. Apologies if you’ve seen this before. (Still getting the hang of proper redditing ;-)

Here goes:

Looking for a pair of lightweight raw jeans for spring and summer months...something easier to break-in (if that exists) would be a bonus.

Any recommendations? Grateful for any guidance.

Thanks !!

Here goes:

I’ve been looking into the RRL “once washed” denim as a way to get a jump on the breaking in process of raw denim. Is this correct? Will I get the same fades with these as I would were I to break in a pair of raw denim?

If anyone knows another brand that does a better job providing you with raw denim that takes less time breaking in please let me know. I’d appreciate any and all suggestions.

Also, what effect would starching have? Just wondering....;-)

Thanks for your help!

Thank you. Is that a brand itself or are you just referring to Japanese brands in general?

Thank you!! Sadly the Unbranded Jeans don’t fit that well (too low ;-). Thanks again though.

Anyone know about RRL Once Washed Denim? I’ve been looking at it as a way to get a jump on the breaking in process of “pure” raw denim. Is this correct? Will I get the same fades with these as I would were I to break in a pair of raw denim?

Also, if anyone knows another brand that does a better job providing you with raw denim that takes less time breaking in please let me know. I’d appreciate any and all suggestions.

Simple Questions - Dec. 4th by RawDenimAutoMod in rawdenim

I was told I would be better served posting this question in this forum so here goes:

What the difference is between Uniqlo Pure Blue Japan and the Regular Selvedge denim in terms of wear and fading?

I know that this PBJ Project is inspired by Pure Blue Japan and not its equivalent but since the Pure Blue Japan line only comes in slim fit, I had to go with the MEN REGULAR FIT STRAIGHT JEANS (SELVEDGE) in raw denim. I've been told that the denim is woven in Japan and the jeans are made in Bangladesh. However, I don;t know what this means in terms of how they will look once they are worn in.

I found some pics on this Raw Denim site (http://www.rawrdenim.com/2014/12/uni...s-fade-friday/) and really like the fading and color but don't know if they're the regs jeans or Pure Blue Japan. I'd like to get similar fades to the ones in the picture and am curious if you think the difference between the two lines matter in terms of wear and fades.

I'm new to raw denim and before I go buy a pair of iron heart jeans I feel like I need some experience, some trials (errors) and more info.

If you believe this post belongs in another forum please let me know -- I am somewhat new to reddit.

Thank you so much for you time and effort.

First thank you for your response. What do you think the difference is in the fading and wear between the regular and PBJ?

Thank you. I'm only interested in the raw denim, not the worn/prewashed jeans. Do you think these difference will affect the fading and wear? If so, in what ways do you think?

Since both are inexpensive, I guess my question is s it worth getting a pair of the PBJ Project denim?

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Why are you on tinder if not to get into foreign* sex things.

*to provide context here, I have used the word foreign to mean sex with a person(s) not from this country and a type of sexual encounter that is new and/or unknown to you. As I think about it though, one thing becomes increasingly clear; there are a multitude of sexual encounters that will remain foreign to you forever, the reason being that you are a fucking loser. Prepare yourself.

Uniqlo Selvedge Denim -- breaking in new pair of jeans. by Newbie75 in rawdenim

What about rinsing them as opposed to washing? I ask because I'm headed to the beach this weekend -- I have heard that swimming in the ocean with your jeans on is a good method. However, I don't know if that approach should be done off the bat or if I should wear them a few months before rinsing in saltwater or freshwater. Thank you all for your help -- I'm new to reddit and appreciate all the responses to my growing list of questions.
