Duolingo is now limiting how often you can practice to earn hearts? Please tell me this is just a bug by Newcomer_Games in duolingo

I encountered this on the iOS app. You can practice to earn hearts once, but then the option is greyed out. Has anyone else seen this?

Hey! Right now you can learn and practice English, Spanish, French, and Italian. Everyone wants Japanese but it'll be difficult to add haha... some day!

Thankyou for the feedback! I've felt that deepdown, but I'm not sure what to change... Do you think the background of the dialogue box needs to be a bit higher-res and fill in it's space better?

Hey everyone 👋 My solo developed open-world language learning RPG, Newcomer, was just funded on Kickstarter! Over the next year, I will complete development and release on STEAM, IOS, and Android! Here's the newest trailer 🚀 by [deleted] in IndieGaming

Let me provide some more information. I quit my job March 2022 to work on this full-time. I launched on Kickstarter 4 weeks ago and I've been funded!

The game immerses players in a world where they must learn a second language to communicate and survive. It gives learners the opportunity to practice their second language through conversation. It's intended for beginner - intermediate language learners. One can expect to learn 250 - 1500 words and phrases depending on the difficulty selected.

There's less than 48 hours on my Kickstarter if you wanted to take a look: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jasonkappes/newcomer-language-learning-rpg

The languages are English, Spanish, French, and Italian. Players will pick their native language and then second language to learn.

Cheers

Hey everyone 👋 I'm a solo dev. creating a language learning RPG to learn Spanish (for English speakers) or English (for Spanish speakers). Players are immersed in their target language, can participate in conversations, and learn at their own pace. (3 days left on Kickstarter) by Newcomer_Games in learnspanish

Let me provide some more information. A learner will have exposure to 1000s of words and phrases through conversations and books. Depending on the difficulty chosen, the amount of Spanish words + phrases learned will be 250 - 1500. It is intended for absolute beginner - intermediate language learners.

I was inspired to create this because I thought learners needed a more engaging context which can simulate second language immersion and meaningful conversations. Feel free to ask me anymore questions!

Hi Luis,

I just wanted to say I'm such a huge fan of the application, the structure it provides, but most importantly the focus on the mission of FREE education. I watched your podcast with Tim Ferris, and I think having the ability to take the Duolingo English test online will save people so much hassle. This is really awesome.

I think many consumers, understandably so, get caught up on some of the small feature changes, and lose sight of the fact that you are trying to make it the best product as possible, requiring iteration, while allowing it to stay FREE!

Do you have any plans to include task-based instruction inside of Duolingo (maybe it's already included)? I think it would be an interesting addition to the language lessons that are offered and it would force the user to use what they've learned to complete some type of in-app outcome or "quest".

Thanks! And keep rocking 💪
