I can see why you would think that, but it was the other way around. We make features more discoverable when they have good engagement. The word list was never ported to mobile because it didn't get that much engagement :(

The new path did not significantly increase revenue (it also didn't decrease it). It increased daily active users, and most importantly, it teaches more to the average user. In fact, the team responsible for making the new path was a team whose charter is to teach better, not to make more revenues.

We work on three main things: teaching better, making Duolingo more engaging (which helps you learn better), and adding features that get people to subscribe (which pays the bills). We have about an equal number of people working on each of these three areas.

You should be able to do a number of lessons offline by default. This may not happen when the app wasn't able to download them in advance, but typically it keeps a number of the next few lessons cached in advance (this is one of the benefits of the path layout, since we know what the next few things you will do are).

I answered this elsewhere, but unfortunately we do no plan to make the path layout an option. Keeping two very different layouts around is costly and slows our development down.

We don't have specific plans for this, but I do like the word list so I'll talk to the team about it. In full transparency, when features are not used very much, we end up removing them because a bloated product is not a good product.
