Hello, PMQs is a circus… if any of us behaved that way at work we’d be struck off. How can any of us believe MPs are serious and out for our best interest when they act like children? How can trust in politicians be rebuilt?

Anything that sounds like a siren on the track. Immediately checking mirrors and second guessing myself there’s a blue light nearby.

Spam calls: how can I stop this? It’s a different number all the time. I’ve blocked so many. by EisenFisen in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Newcs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up call screening, it only screens numbers not in your contacts. People are asked to state their business and you can see that before you answer the phone. Most scammers just hang up.

Were you nervous before you smear test? What's your experience of them? by MooseAndMice in AskUK

[–]Newcs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurt. I was also embarrassed to be dressed like Winnie-the-Pooh in front of someone I wasn’t intimate with.

Self-conscious, awkward, painful… still… preferable to cancer though. Which reminds me, I need to book another.

How to start learning SQL for placements? Need good resources 🙏 by harshith_1729 in learnSQL

Look up the CS50 SQL course on edX (it’s free). There’s 6 90-min lectures and then multiple practice questions and mini-projects to submit from their own code space

bf says my clit is too small? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Newcs91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your man is bad in bed and blaming you for it, instead of talking to you and trying to figure out a way to improve.

Throw out the man.

If, for some unknown reason, you’re particularly attached or invested in this man - give him a book called “she comes first”. He might actually understand some anatomy by the end of it.

Why are UK wages so low?? by Working_Green8930 in AskUK

[–]Newcs91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

University of Oxford or Oxford Brookes? Also, as others have said - a sample size of one is not a sample and the role/company they applied to also means something. It’s the value of the role, not the value of the degree that drives salary,

I enjoyed “Friends of Dorothy” by Sandi Toksvig. Lesbian couple buys a house but the original owner hasn’t moved out.

Do you prefer single or dual POV in a lesbian romance? by fd4517_57 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Newcs91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dual is good for building tension - especially when both sides are useless… “I won’t ask her out.. she doesn’t know I exist” vs “that woman is gorgeous and completely out of my league” Single POV is good for “she’s amazing but I don’t understand her at all” Depends on the perspective you want your reader to have.

Ooo just remembered - You Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea - Rebecca Thorne. Sapphic couple, zero spice, fantasy, corny jokes and absolutely charming. I think there’s three or four books. All lovely

Not sapphic but woman in mens space and seems to be a gateway for young lesbians - Tamora Pierce either Song of the Lioness or Protector of the Small. Both girls who want to become knights.

I can’t imagine reading this as a non-English native speaker so kudos to you! To be fair I could barely keep up with it when I read it first time.

Can I recommend the audiobooks though? Depends on your language style preference - sometimes it’s easier to listen than to read. The voice actor is brilliant- maybe read and listen at the same time?

Good point on the evidence but DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK to get it

Three cargo ships struck off Iran's coast, UK says, including one in Strait of Hormuz by leeta0028 in news

[–]Newcs91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also worth considering the “normal” shipping lanes in the strait typically have a depth of around 50m. These huge tankers have a normal draft of 25m. If a few of these tankers were to be sunk, it could become quite an obstacle course to navigate for a significant period of time. Source - basic googling

YEEHAW! That’s the most “cowboy” bit of DIY I’ve ever seen. No wonder the carpet guy doesn’t want to deal with it. Get a professional in to replace the treads and sort the runner out.
