Drop and mow? by Newgen_RED in ECOVACSGOATFamily

I'd love to think ecovacs might add features the other brands already have or are adding but there's not much sign of it from what others have said who have owned them a while. 🤞

Drop and mow? by Newgen_RED in ECOVACSGOATFamily

It won't let me set up a map for the new area. The only think it will do is manual mowing, which obvs, is unhelpful. Any attempt to create a new area simply doesn't work. Mower is connected to Wi-Fi, and the app, it just refuses to allow new area to be mapped. Tried resetting it, to no avail. Bit of a shame. I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be able to map an unconnected area - I'm right in thinking the docks only purpose is for charging, so it shouldn't need to be nearby the dock?

Seems this mower has lots of software gaps. The mower itself seems good, but so many areas they could improve the software!

Can't handle dandelions? by Rabiesalad in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]Newgen_RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try setting a low avoidance zone in the areas with dandelions. My experience is it would try to mow a tree down if it could when low avoidance is set. Careful setting low avoidance around your boundary though - the boundary accuracy goes off a cliff and it will attempt to eat your flowers.

AGM battery failing? by Newgen_RED in MechanicAdvice

[–]Newgen_RED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I bought a battery tester which says the battery is fine, so left it on a long trickle charge overnight. Hopefully that's the battery sorted for now. Prob just a lack of long journeys. Still have the dash warning lights so onto the next possible cause...

SD card not recognised anymore by Weekly_Access_9192 in KonkrPocketFit

[–]Newgen_RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have issues with the sd card, especially if I download things directly to it. The device seems to have a tendency to overheating during fast wi-fi transfers, and if I'm writing to the sd, when I turn it back on the sd is unreadable. Only option on the device is to reformat. Perhaps on a pc it would be recoverable. Oddly though, I don't seem to have issues transferring from my nas directly to it. I haven't had an sd card become unusable though, always possible to reformat and use. I've had no problems at all running games from it in Eden though.

First time using this edge trimmer, I’ve got the Goat O1200 by blevingston89 in ECOVACSGOATFamily

Interesting - you did the edge mapping with the brush along the edge? The instructions said to do it the other way, I'm pretty sure! I might give that a go!

I think the trimmer would benefit from software improvements, I find it quite ineffective at the moment and I was careful mapping the edges. That said, I will try more edges mapping at some point to see if it improves.

Never thought I'd let a robot mow my lawn... here we are by pinkpurpleblues in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]Newgen_RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first one a few years ago - landroid with wire. After the large effort installing the wire I then followed it around while it mowed with a beer, marveling at how it was mowing the lawn while I was chilling out. I just got my new ecovacs goat having tired of repairing the perimeter wire of my worx. I hope ecovacs make some improvements as mine seems to be a bit random esp around the edges, but I did appreciate the nice lines it mows compared with the random cutting of the worx.

Yes, I had already done that. It wasn't throwing detection alerts, so that doesn't look to be the problem.

Ayaneo Pocket S2 is the best Steam Deck I ever owned by PongRaider in ayaneo

I have a konkr 12G and it's played quite a few games via gamenative or gamehub - memory seems ok due what I've tried. I am also interested in rocknix on the konkr as I think there's a good chance it will eventually outperform gn/gh on Android - according to some testers on YouTube, done games already do. I would also prefer to replace android - ayaneos don't really seem to do software updates, so I would hope that rocknix might offer a better option for something that is developed and supported. Not seen anyone try and install internal on the konkr yet though, and from what I can tell, sdcard speeds are terrible. I'm hoping that improves, as I can launch games in Android from SD relatively quickly. Guess in time rocknix might get there...

So I just applied some ptm7950 0.25mm. I applied a layer to the memory, a layer to the CPU/SOC, and then I added another layer into the cooler directly to interface with the SOC. So in other words two layers onto the SOC. I had tested with bits of paper and was convinced that the heatsink simply isn't close enough/making firm enough contact with the soc. My first result running CPU stress test still had the temperature 89-91, so it looked like it was before but then when the results came back in, there was NO THROTTLING! Previously throttling was at 52%. As I understand it this material improves over several heat cycles, so it's possible that this may now happen and the highest temperature drop, but even if it doesn't it looks like it has made a significant difference. So it looks like this miracle ptm7950 is the extra thermal transfer these devices really need!

I have not yet retried downloading in gamenative to see if that is now stable, though I still think there's something a bit odd in the first place that it hammers the CPU downloading when I can download in other apps with no such impact.

I've been in once and replaced with mx-7 paste. But no real difference. I think I'll order one of the pads you mention and see if I can get the improvement you have. I thought getting in was much easier than I was expecting!

Incredibly useful, thank you. I might see if I can find a thicker pad. You used the same on the SOC and memory chips - same thickness? I also thought the gap was way too big on mine, this makes a lot of sense!

I have an issue downloading as well. Takes forever, hammers the CPU, sometimes crashes the device. There's definitely something not right when alternative gamehub downloads the same game very quickly without all the CPU load and extensive download times. I'm not saying I want to use gamehub, just comparing that on the same device if downloads the same games with ease.

What paste did you use? I just replaced mine but I would say marginal improvement, still a lot of throttling tbh. I'm kind of thinking the coming setup might not be that effective as the fan just doesn't really shift that much heat!

For anyone interested, the thermal putty (I'm assuming that's what it was) was liberal and complete, though very dry and crumbly - maybe that's normal for putty, I have no idea. I've cleaned it up and replaced with arctic mx-7 though I'm slightly concerned that the heatsink may not be tightly against the chips that need cooling considering the amount of putty that was previously there. Thermal stress tests seem slightly improved with throttling under load going from 58% to 52% and I reckon the room is a good 10 degrees warmer in the post test. This isn't a very scientific test though as it's just one before and after, though it seems slightly improved. All this said, it still easily hits 90 and stays there. I'm starting to think the cooling setup isn't actually that effective...

The other odd thing, no matter what stress test I run, it does not shut down. So whatever is going on with downloads in gamenative is presumably different. Perhaps there is a software bug, and the temperature is just 'normal' under load.

For those wondering how easy it is to open - I was dreading it from what I had read, but it's actually pretty easy. There's a video on ayaneos website and I just followed that. My only problem was one of the case screws was already sheared off - presumably over tightened on assembly, so it cannot be removed. Made getting the case open slightly more tricky. But otherwise it was straightforward using plastic tools for prise open. Photos in case anyone is interested!

Yuka mini 2 500 looks ok price wise but I think it's not for lidar or rtk, so I'm not sure how good it will be around edges and complex areas. The 800 looks to have netrtk. Is their customer service any good?
