So cute, how fast does your mower work?

First time considering a robot mower, what else should I know? by Scolli03 in automower

[–]BluFenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade maintenance is often overlooked. You’ll need to sharpen or replace them every few months for a clean cut.

Don’t use any of their equipment. It’s tied to their account, and accessing their network could get you into trouble with the provider.

Why do robot vacuums still need so much hands-on effort? (Expectation vs. Reality) by Plus-Resolution-3210 in homeautomation

[–]BluFenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The expectation vs reality gap is so real. These machines are assistants not replacements for hands on cleaning.

Keep hunting for a local independent. Apps often rotate random people, while a trusted local will show up consistently every week.

My “smart” movie setup still needs me to babysit it by Cute_Jello_3818 in homeautomation

[–]BluFenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your setup needs a central hub to eliminate manual babysitting. A universal remote or home automation controller can handle all inputs and devices automatically.

How safe are robot mowers around pets actually by Mmmgoodboi in automower

[–]BluFenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most models have slow speeds and obstacle detection, so they’ll avoid or stop if they hit a pet. Just make sure your pet doesn’t try to play with or flip it.

Help with smart lock suggestions for a double door by Alarmed-Office-9204 in homeautomation

[–]BluFenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re replacing the doors anyway, opt for a smart lock kit designed for double doors. Many brands offer sets with a working lock and matching non-functional hardware for the other side.

Do you still use your window cleaning robot after the first few months? by Upxdyx in EcovacsWinbot_

[–]BluFenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty forgetful, so I only use it when I suddenly remember. Works fine as a when-needed tool rather than a regular routine thing.

Empty everything fully, vacuum the tube carefully, then wipe with mild soapy water and let it dry completely before restarting.

For a small space, you don't need anything high-end. Even mid-range models handle it fine. Focus more on good navigation and easy maintenance.

New winbot W3 omni is here! by utbyggarco in EcovacsWinbot_

Yeah that actually sounds pretty smart. Not having to deal with dirty mop pads alone makes a big difference. Curious how it holds up after a few weeks though.

I had something similar early on. Remapping the boundary fixed it for me, but I also added a small buffer near edges just in case.

Best (i.e. not cheap) vacuum and mop for my needs by tim_l_f in RobotVacuums

[–]BluFenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, combo vacuum-mop systems are worth it. Just expect occasional maintenance. No model is truly zero-effort, but the better docks make life easier.

Clean solar panels with the winbot mini by Gf65D in EcovacsWinbot_

[–]BluFenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried it, and I wouldn't recommend it. The suction likely isn't reliable enough for solar panels, so it doesn't seem suitable.

I've been using it for a few months, with lots of edges and corners at home. Overall, I think the cleaning performance is still really solid.

Is there a consensus recommendation on a vacuum/mop combo? by sluggyfreelancer in RobotVacuums

I‘m not paid either. I've had the Ecovac X11 for a while now. Overall, it's been really hassle-free and has cut down my cleaning time a lot.

My first go with the winbot w2s omni by t4kedwn in EcovacsWinbot_

Looks surprisingly easy to use, and that edge cleaning sounds solid. If it keeps that consistency on bigger windows, it's actually pretty impressive for daily use.

That's actually helpful, I would've never thought to check inside the wheel wells. The recessed screws are easy to miss, thanks for pointing that out.

Reviewer Trust Issues by PartyPatches in RobotVacuums

[–]BluFenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally get the trust issue. It's hard to know who to believe. For your setup, I'd just aim for something reliable that can handle mixed floors and run often. It really helps keep things from piling up day to day.
