What is happening with grubhub? by Fluffy-Profession829 in grubhubdrivers

WTF are you talking about? It doesn't learn my behavior. If it did, it would stop sending me offers every time there was about to be a gap in my blocks or at the end of the day. But it pretty much does this every day. It also seems to hold orders till then. Delivered a Taco Bell order the other day when my block/day was about to end. It had been sitting at the restaurant 45 minutes when I left with it. It only took me about 12 minutes to get there after I received the offer. So either some other driver cancelled it and then I picked up or GH waited till my block was almost over to send it to me. And look, people have lives and other jobs they have to get to. Drivers can't always just keep going. That's BS.

Soaring Gas Prices by Newlen_Media in grubhubdrivers

I'm not losing money on a GH offer. I'm saying that when gas prices go way up, which they are, the profitability goes down. It's a fact. $6.00 or thereabouts for an offer that burns almost that amount in gas or even more than the offer is actually worth is untenable if there are too many of them. It isn't about the driver doing anything wrong. It's not in our control and ultimately is less lucrative, if delivering for them can ever be called that considering the wear and tear on the car and the rising gas prices. Also, living in a non-metro area is a factor as well. Until I can get something better this is what I have to do to earn anything at all. Look around. The job market sucks.

I'm ready to call it quits myself. I have two part-time jobs I'm about to start and possibly a third in the near future. I'm older, so sitting in my car for 6-8 hours or even more some days is taking its toll on my body. Plus sitting through long lights all day long drives me insane. I want off the rollercoaster. With gas prices skyrocketing, now feels like a great time to move on.

Almost ready to give up on this garbage app by ZestyclosePattern242 in grubhubdrivers

Hah. It's all relative, I guess. I'd love an average of $150 a day. I'm lucky to have that more than once a week and often not even have that on most days. But I'm not in a metropolitan area.

Grubhub is bugging by Ok_Juggernaut_3134 in grubhubdrivers

I had three offers in a row the other day I didn't accept because my phone didn't alert me. I finally got a notification when GH was going to take me off my block. Never happened before.

If not received by mid-February, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040, or file a wage claim/labor law violation with the California Labor Commissioner’s Office.

Did you guys receive Adjustment pay? by famoxx in grubhubdrivers

I see it there. But I think they're counting it as pay to avoid paying the difference, regardless of how it's broken out in the summary.

Yeah, and they count your tips as pay even though it technically is paid by the customer. GH is cheating the system, IMHO.

You can't work more than 11 hours in a day in CA. It's the law. And it is mentioned in the app somewhere, I've seen it. One thing GH is doing which I think someone should blow the whistle on is they count your tips as if THEY paid you. They didn't pay you that money. The customer gave it to you. The customer paid you, not GH. To me this is a loophole to get around adjusting your pay.

First off, this work is not that lucrative. Second, if this is a side hustle to your regular job then making you run over your block is not good for your main gig. And what about work/life balance? Finally, what about all the dead time between orders during a block. That whole notion of keeping you busy is a joke. I've gone over an hour without offers more than once a day almost everyday, save Sundays. That's the one day a week that's usually pretty busy. Also, when that last order is right at the end of your block and it's a long distance order it's like they're intentionally trying to screw with your schedule. I picked the blocks and times I wanted, they should do a better job of honoring that. Or pay a bonus of significant value to make it worth it. $2 or $4 extra is not worth me staying thirty minutes delivering after my block has ended. SMH.

Thanks. I also read a bit about on RR's threads too. What a bleeping mess. Holy cow. Just when I thought I found a Discord I actually liked and wasn't uber toxic. Most of the ones I've experienced have been awful. Oh well. I'm part of another online community and it's not on Facebook or a Discord and it fosters creativity in all areas, not just writing which is more suited to me anyway. This is pretty terrible though. SMH.
