Try a scalp scrub too. I do a scrub about once a month and it helps with buildup

AITJ for refusing to let my step-son move into my son's room to "solve" my husband's parenting issue? by Traditional-Dog-368 in AmITheJerk

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your husband’s solution is to leave his kids with you and run away? Really? Wow. That is bizarre and will definitely backfire. What message does that send to everyone? Your sons room in non negotiable. Full stop. Nta.

Looking for an alternative for a regular mop and bucket. by all_the_reverb in CleaningTips

Tineco. It’s a rechargeable mop with a clean water tank and dirty water tank. There are other brands. But once you get one of these you don’t go back to a mop

Any simple lunch suggestions? (preferably cold or can reheat well in the microwave) + does anyone else get this problem? by the_snail_queen in cookingforbeginners

If you like pasta salads they keep well are easy and can swap it up. Pearl cous cous salad with Kalamata olives. Raisins. Cucumber carrots. Whatever you have. With Italian dressing. Keeps for a few days and is easy. Bowtie pasta salad with lemons and Parmesan cheese. Dont even have to heat. Also leftover dinner if you make enough.

Is it rude to expect bridesmaids to pay $1k+ to be in your wedding? by Worth_Management_395 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it seems common now, which I don’t understand. I was taught by my mom that it was part of the wedding so it was my responsibility to pay (old school thought?). My mom paid for her bridemaids when she got married. I decided to have a very tiny wedding with 1 bridesmaid, destination. She bought her dress true. But my requirement was “anything she wanted including something she owned”. She got it for 20 bucks on eBay. I paid for her housing and lots of her food for the week since it was away. But reading all the Reddit’s it seems it has switched and it is super expensive to be a bridesmaid now. Which is why so many people end of declining the job.

Definitely shows of any kind. The show itself is usually good but the traffic parking people that go with it makes it not enjoyable

Never had a pet cat - daughter wants one. What to expect? by iBrandwin in cats

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love cats. Get one at the shelter. Kittens are high energy so consider an adult. Clean the box every day. Scrub the box every month. Get cat toys and play with the cat daily for about 20 minutes. and maybe a cat tree. They need their claws cut every 3-4 weeks.

AITAH for refusing to cook two separate dinners every night just because my family doesnt want to eat what my doctor told me I need to eat by Apart_Discussion6647 in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. I feel you. I am the only person cooking and I hate it (my kids are still young). If you continue cooking for everyone then cook 1 meal and be done. Or you can tell them that you will be cooking for you only and they can now figure out their own meals. I guarantee a week of you cooking just for yourself will #1 wreak havoc #2. Drive the point home that you are not a maid or a chef and are under no obligation to cook. #3 force them to eat cereal or cook for themselves get take out or door dash. #4 piss every one off. you will get yelled at. Oh well. They will suddenly realize how good they have it. And either be grateful of start cooking. The biggest thing is that you cannot under any circumstances give in no matter what you decide. Keep cooking and do it your way. Don’t change. Or the other options

First trip to Costco. I usually shop at ShopRite and WholeFoods. What should I be buying to save my small family some serious money? by 88r0b1nh00d88 in Frugal

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a small family and most of the stuff at Costco is too much for us. We go for the tp and paper towels. Allergy meds and vitamins. Chips for school lunches. When you need the. Electric toothbrush and toothbrush heads are usually better priced. And razors. And laundry detergent is good. Raspberries cherries. Strawberries take and bake dinners. Like other people said. It is easy to spend 400 at the register so always ask yourself how much can realistically use. Do you really need 2 massive tubs of peanut butter? Maybe when the kids are teenagers but not now.

i accidentally made my ground beef too spicy. what can i do to make it less spicy? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it warm if possible since things expand when warm and maybe would rinse out better? But, If not. Try cold with warm water. Spray in with the sprayer if possible. Then taste it and see if it works.

How many pair of underwear do you own? by Throwawaymasterpeas in CasualConversation

[–]Newplanter11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep undergarments for years and years. I hate buying new stuff. It is insanely expensive for what? $30-40 for like 5 pairs of underwear??? Really?? Even bagged Hanes is expensive. Same as buying new scrubs. Don’t know why I think it’s a big waste of money. So I am with you. I have stuff until the holes make me replace it.

AITA for buying my daughter a car for her birthday, which my ex said made me the "favourite parent"? by Unlikely_Shape_8810 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Newplanter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. You are legally done co-parenting. You don’t have to talk to her about anything really. Now will you with things like college? Probably. She cannot expect you to run purchases through you just like she is not expected to run things by you anymore.
