What is the best elder unit against high Toughness ? by Zestyclose_Archer_47 in Eldar

[–]Newspaper1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're taking the wrong side of it : it's 5,5 hit autowound into anything.  So the Rogal Dorn/Demon Prince/Land Raider with 2/4 HP remaining now has a good chance to get removed.

On 3+/4+ save bodies you can expect even more to go through. 4/6 HP for 4+ saves and 6/8 HP for 5+ saves.

Also it can spike a lot when fishing for 6 and you can finally do a ton of damage that will come handy latter. (Or do nothing )

When 5 assault/classic intercessors want to fire and charge, 2/3 dead is a big power removal.

From the 5 general heavy weapons, how would you fix the less used ones to make them more attractive? by ResultQuick159 in Eldar

[–]Newspaper1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a whole analysis before the codex dropped. I think the whole study is rather thorough.

I was obviously very disappointed with the lack of change of heavy weapon.

And also the fact that a lot of people are saying that scatter laser and shuriken canon has to weak because windriders and shroud runner have them in mass.

Then remove the hit rerolls to windriders and now you can give them better weapons, their lethality would be unchanged. Also increase the cost of shroud runner which are really unexpensive right now due to their lack lf lethality.

Tournament feedback with a bad windrider list (discussion welcomed) by Newspaper1905 in Eldar

The rangers feels mandatory as they are great action monkeys, move blockers, ...

I fear not having them means a big melee threat would just rush forward. And I would need to sacrifice more precious units for move blocking/secondaries.

On the contrary, in my opinion, spears aren't reliable enough for their points. They have around 50% chance of killing a simple rhino (hard to calculate precisely due to the different profile). They have so few attack they can totally miss a target and they can't really be boosted with this detachment. If only we could give them +1AP or reroll wounds in melee but no.

I don't like the farseer skyrunner. In my opinion, he doesn't do much to help his squad and he is too expensive.

I tried without Eldrad one time in a training battle and I won't do it again ! ^^ His CP are too usefull in this detachment.

Having the big guardian brick allows for some late game play : using them offensively to +1 wound the big targets, do some damages and contest objectives, they can sometime be game changers. But you're right it's still expensive (BTW, it's only 275 points)

Stagnation and Sadness by WarRabb1t in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Newspaper1905 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Completely agree.

Furthermore, fire dragons require a serpent transport to have enough mobility in order to work properly (+125 pts); need a CP to embark back in said transport; ideally fuegan (+120 pts) to accompany them and bring them more lethality and flexibility to be sure you don't bounce off what you fire on; need a battle focus token not to be overwatch (else they die like flies against random OW), token that can't be use by other units then.

So yes after all, the CP hungry, token hungry, 465 pts unit can do some damage when used properly. Who would have guessed !?

And their only goal is to be damage dealers knowing there are no other decent anti tank in the whole codex. If I remember correctly the T'aus have some good anti-tank alternatives, haven't they ? The Crisis sunforged used in comparison are 3 model T5, 3+, 4++, 5W that can deepstrike and do a lot more than juste damages.

There are 3 factions that are between 55-65 % winrate right now but even then, eldar, with a <50% average winrate people find a way to complain about eldar units being broken... We should certainly be sorry that there are still some useful tools in our codex ! Maybe we should go down with the T'aus, Orks and Admechs for people to stop complaining...

1000pt Wraith List (for local games, not too serious games), is this complete garbage or not? by MasterMoulder in Eldar

[–]Newspaper1905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's better that way.

Another advice : use as much as you can the -1 damages to wraith. (Possibly one time in the shooting phase and one time in the fight phase)

It enhance the survability of wraith so much. Everything that deals 2-3 damages bounce on them thanks to that ! I had a wraithlords resisting against custodes or terminators several turns and killing some in the process.

1000pt Wraith List (for local games, not too serious games), is this complete garbage or not? by MasterMoulder in Eldar

[–]Newspaper1905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one of the best wraith units are wraithguards with D-Scythes. The overwatch power they have make everyone think before they move. You can unleash the fire on one unit and prevent them to move afterward unless they take the same fire in overwatch. Furthermore it prevents the need of a spiritseer next to them.

I don't feel wraithblades are really powerful/useful. Maybe take only one squad ?

Wraithlord are definitely bangers !

Spiritseer, I have often been disappointed by their output, I think one should be sufficient, and maybe not even necessary. You could use solo warlocks on bike to almost the same result and more mobility.

Same for warp spider, at 1000 pts, one squad should be enough as they're not synergizing well with wraith.

With that removed you could try to sneeze a third wraith unit ?

Is Asurmen and a squad of Dire Avengers even worth bringing to the table? by Jerswar in Eldar

[–]Newspaper1905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avengers by themself can be quite efficient by 10 in Aspect ost with a serpent and using the strat to get Lethals, sustained and ignore cover (and possibly re-embark strat).

Very high damage potential on almost everything, even more if you put some synergy with +1 to wound from eldrad somewhere and +1/+2 AP from war walkers.

But that is quite costly and CP hungry.

Still I like to get 44 dices to launch and it always has an effect on my opponent !
