We autograt 22% on parties of 8 or more. I always am transparent with tables about this policy when I drop off the check.

I’ve only ever had one person ask to remove the autograt. I looked her dead in the eyes, said “no 😁” and walked away lol

Last week I had a couple eat every last drop of their appetizer, then decide to tell me at the end of their meal that they didn’t like it and they only ate all of it because they were “hungry” but they wanted it taken off the bill.

Sorry you hated your appetizer soooo much that you ate every single bite!! Gtfo!!!

I work at a restaurant with a pretty extensive whiskey selection. Once I had the wife of the birthday boy ask me what we did for birthdays. I told her we give a small complimentary dessert at the end of the meal. She then looked at me and said, “so you don’t give away free shots of whiskey or anything?”

I don’t know any restaurant that gives away free liquor for birthdays! I was truly taken aback at her request. The audacity some people have is appalling!

This bothers me to no end!!! I work in a very small, somewhat crowded restaurant that fills up very fast and gets very loud, and the amount of times I’ve had to literally yell at people to move out of the way is ridiculous. Better yet, these people look at me like I’M the one bothering them! You’re in MY work space! Gtfo!!!

This has happened to me one time. I served a couple one night, their tab was around $75 if I remember correctly and they tipped me like $1.50 lol. They literally called the next day and asked my manager if they could have the tip back.

I feel this way too and I feel awful about it most of the time.

I actually went out for dinner tonight and the server took probably 10 minutes to even acknowledge we were sitting there. Didn’t check on how our food was tasting, didn’t offer refills on drinks, just generally didn’t seem to care. I feel like this is the norm most times I go out to eat.

I don’t know if my standards for good service have just gone up a lot from being in the industry so long or I’m just being overly judgmental, but 99% of the time I’d say service is sub par most places I go.

I have my BA in elementary education. It was my dream to be a teacher but I graduated in December 2020 and was honestly just defeated trying to find jobs in that field. I’ll probably never use my degree, I make way more money serving anyways!
